Today we're announcing two product changes for organizing communities on X:
1. XChat now supports joinable links for groupchats. Create a public link & share direct to Timeline. With support for 350 members per chat (and growing), Groupchat Links are the fastest way to bring people together on X.
2. Due to declining usage, we're deprecating X Communities on May 6.
To migrate your Community's members, pin your groupchat link so people can join it over the next 2 weeks.
This is part of our broader effort to simplify the experience on X. Make no mistake: we are investing heavily in niche communities with the launch of Custom Timelines—and much more to come.

PATTERN FLIP: It has been 37 days since any part of Alabama was under a tornado warning. The weather has been unusually dry and calm since mid-March. But, an upper air pattern change will flip the switch, and our weather will be getting active again over the next few weeks.
GOOD: This will bring some badly needed rain into Alabama and the Deep South. Global models suggest rain amounts of 3-4 inches are likely during the next 15 days for most of the state.
BAD: The threat of severe thunderstorms will return. Understand this is tornado season, it runs from November through May. Nothing out of the ordinary, but since it has been so quiet for so long, now is a good time to be sure you have a reliable way of hearing warnings, and have a good plan.
ROUND ONE: We will have our first round of showers/storms statewide Friday night into Saturday morning. SPC has defined a "marginal risk" (level 1/5) for Northwest Alabama Friday night... the main concern will come from strong straight line winds.
ROUND TWO: The next organized thunderstorm event will come Monday night into Tuesday morning, early next week. This one could pose a tornado threat, but it is simply too early to be specific.
ROUND THREE: A third round of strong to severe storms is likely late next week, Thursday, Thursday night, or Friday. Needless to say it is too early to call, but this one could be a higher end threat based on current model output.
DO IT NOW! Follow the Alabama Weather Network now on social media, and subscribe to their YouTube channel. Get the AWN app on your phone, TV, and tablet. We provide aggressive, long form coverage when ANY county in Alabama goes under a tornado warning with a large team of experienced meteorologists and incredible resources. It doesn't matter what TV market you are in, or which NWS office issues warnings for you. We've got your back.
I fully understand many of you have weather anxiety, and I am not in the business of fear mongering for social media engagement. This post is simply a message to let you know things will be active over the next few weeks, and now is a good time to think about following AWN have a solid plan if you are "in the polygon".
