People cite the rise in “millionaires”, but the term doesn’t mean what it used to. A million bucks today is worth barely the equivalent of what $500K was in 2000. The vast majority of so-called “millionaires” now are just middle-class retirees who paid off their homes and saved a modest nest egg.

If there is a genre I truly hate in the @nytimes it's the frequent pieces featuring folks with multi-millions in assets and multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars in yearly household income describing themselves as middle class, and being credulously understood that way, while professionals with healthy six figure incomes engage in poverty larping because, of course, if these other people are "middle class" then they must themselves be "poor" or "working class" or "just getting by." A Seattle man who shot and killed an eight-month pregnant Korean-American woman and nearly killed her husband when they were driving to work has been found not guilty by reason of insanity. Cordell Goosby m—rdered Elina Kwon and her unborn baby in June 2023 when they were stopped at a red light. Prosecutors did not charge him for killing the baby due to concerns about protecting abortion in the liberal state. After hearing testimony from defense medical experts that Goosby was "insane" at the time of the shootings, the prosecution agreed to have the case ended through the not guilty motion. Goosby will be committed to an institution and regularly evaluated to see if he is fit to be released to the public. ngocomment.com

Democratic Illinois Governor JB Pritzker speaks about a Democratic "Project 2029" in which members of the current Trump administration, along with federal agents, will be criminally and civilly prosecuted. "Whatever it is that we can do. It may be that you cannot criminally prosecute somebody, but you can go after them civilly." Follow: @AFpost

BREAKING: Trump administration threatens to revoke licences of news outlets over coverage critical of the Iran war.

Broadcasters that are running hoaxes and news distortions - also known as the fake news - have a chance now to correct course before their license renewals come up. The law is clear. Broadcasters must operate in the public interest, and they will lose their licenses if they do not. And frankly, changing course is in their own business interests since trust in legacy media has now fallen to an all time low of just 9% and are ratings disasters. The American people have subsidized broadcasters to the tune of billions of dollars by providing free access to the nation’s airwaves. It is very important to bring trust back into media, which has earned itself the label of fake news. When a political candidate is able to win a landslide election victory after in the face of hoaxes and distortions, there is something very wrong. It means the public has lost faith and confidence in the media. And we can’t allow that to happen. Time for change!
