As a Bama fan, I can’t stand Tennessee. But Gillespie dunking in Yaxel’s mug was so sweet! That guy is an absolute punk!

@CBB_Central Yeah, we’ll praise coaches for recruiting pros from overseas but denigrate them for trying to get the US based ones. So hypocritical!

It’s okay to talk sports you don’t know much about. I love talking football on here, even though I know very little about schematics and style of play stuff. To show up in late March and start talking like you know more than one of the best head coaches in the game is hilariously stupid, and it screams “look at me I’m Shannon Terry and I love to hear myself talk”
Ganiel Diddens@DGiddensBurner

The football heads pop out in March and just start spewing nonsense. Bama has 9 tournament wins in the last 3 years lol They lost in the Sweet Sixteen because they had a Sweet Sixteen, maybe even Round of 32 caliber team and they played a juggernaut Please shift your focus back to spring football now

I’ve always said fouls should never be equal (most of the time). Teams don’t foul equitably. Example: UT commits 50 first half fouls. Called for 8 Alabama commits about 8 fouls called for 6.

@Aaron_Torres The fundamental issue is that there are over 100 European and American basketball players currently eligible in violation of the plain reading of these rules. It's very clear that players like Nnaji received "more than actual and necessary expenses to participate" on Euro teams.

I actually think the biggest issue for Alabama the last few weeks is that everyone writing and commentating on the Charles Bediako situation is *too* educated. They thought they could sneak it by us and say "Bediako is like all these other guys." When he wasn't. At all.

I’m one of the Alabama Fans that’s glad the courts denied his eligibility !! This ain’t a good look at all for collegiate athletics and an even worse look for Bediako 🤣. Not even that big of a factor or game changer , you really sat on eligible players development to go and get G leaguer who couldn’t cut it after leaving the collegiate ranks ? Hard truths but hey Is what it is 🤷🏽‍♂️ #RollTide

Nick Kelly@_NickKelly

Asked Nate Oats if it was worth it to bring in Charles Bediako for five games. Oats: "100%. There was an opportunity to help one of our former players out. He was within his five year window. He's trying to get his degree. Here's the thing too. My job as a head coach is to try to do the right thing by our guys. Charles is one of our guys. That was the right thing to do by one of our guys. Like I've said before, this is not some mercenary deal with a 23 year old coming in for a semester that nobody knows. He was deemed legally eligible to play. We're going to absolutely support him. One of the ironic statements in the affidavit Sankey put was how much of a disadvantage it is to go be a pro and not have to focus on your college. It's not the case. It would be nice if everybody who's commenting, writing, talking about this, actually educated themselves on the reality of the situation. The reality of the situation is, Charles left here with his body looking pretty good at 235. He went to the G League. You don't get the same treatment you do. There's a reason ... there's a lot of G League players trying to come back to college. The money's a lot better. The development is a lot better. You get a full time dietician, full time strength coach, you're not traveling on commercial flights, spending all your time in airports, not being able to develop. Charles actually has lost weight since he went to the G League. His development wasn't what you would think being a pro. You're more of a professional able to focus on getting your body right in college. He's here. He's in school. We're going to help him try to gain weight back he's lost since he was in the G League. We're going to continue to help his basketball development. We're going to continue to help his development as a student, as a student-athlete. 100% it was worth it. I would do the same thing 100 times out of 100 for any of our guys it would have made sense to do it with."

The 3 most hot button topics for the ncaa tournament selection committee this year as of today: 1) Miami RedHawks - where to seed them and whether to include them as at-large if they don’t win MAC tourney. 2) Bediako/Alabama situation 3) Kansas and Darryn Peterson

Glad to help here. He was eligible Saturday because a court ruled he was eligible until a hearing could be held on a permanent injunction. The court later declined to issue him the permanent injection, rendering him ineligible moving forward. This does not retroactively make the first ruling invalid, as you seem to think. This happens routinely, as TROs are granted more freely than PI’s.
War Blogle@WarBlogle

Here's the thing on the cheating Tide: if the pro player was deemed ineligible yesterday, then he was ineligible last week and the week before, and the entire time. Nothing changed to make him now ineligible. He was always ineligible. And the cheating Tide knew that.

@DanWetzel What an idiotic statement! How does Bediako coming in the middle of the year to play one semester take away an opportunity for a high school teenager? But the transfer portal, Euro pros, and G-Leaguers are definitely doing that. And this guy “leads” the NCAA? SMH

I understand the arguments of Alabama’s Charles Bediako and the inconsistencies of NCAA eligibility rulings, but his case always felt like a bridge too far. A rare NCAA court victory in a high profile case brings a statement from President Charlie Baker:

@MattNorlander So what about the fact that the NCAA lawyers in their arguments admitted Rashaun Agee shouldn’t be playing for Texas A&M. He’s playing on a TRO by the way to circumvent NCAA “rules and structure.” Are you going to crusade about that one? If not, why not?

Can't overstate how big this is for some proper order in CBB. In order to have structural integrity, you need rational boundaries around how rosters are built and who is/isn't eligible. If there's no threshold between signing an NBA deal and playing CBB it's a logistical disaster

Significant win in court for the NCAA. Interesting potential ripple effect: Alabama played Bediako in defiance of the NCAA's ruling. The Tide were 3-2 with him, including a notable win at rival Auburn over the weekend. How will those games affect Bama's NCAAT résumé/record?

At first, I was against Bediako playing, but I had no idea there were 68 former pros playing on numerous college basketball teams around the nation, especially in the SEC. Bediako is not a NBA caliber player. So this shouldn’t be a problem for opponents. With Bediako, the Tide had a former pro, just like AU, UK, Florida & numerous other teams. I never trusted Torres. He never seemed like a legit Bama guy to me. It’s good to know my suspicions were legit

Charles Bediako is no longer eligible to play basketball at Alabama. When a local judge *and* the commissioner of the SEC came out against this, you know Alabama was on the wrong side. Only question is if a 3-2 record with him was worth weeks of public embarrassment 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

An interesting part of the ruling against Charles Bediako, from Judge Daniel Pruet 👇 “The plaintiffs playing professional basketball in the G-League as recently as last month indicated that the case is not about whether Plaintiff can be paid to play basketball, but for whom”
Trey Wallace@TreyWallace

Breaking: Charles Bediako no longer eligible to play for Alabama, as Tuscaloosa judge denies injunction. An upset win for the NCAA, in Alabama basketball’s backyard, that will have major implications. Can the NCAA now go after the 3 wins? outkick.com/sports/alabama…
