@GraemeEdgeler @LewSOS Fortunately economic impact studies are limited to low-return publicly-funded vanity projects, so fallout is limited.

@GraemeEdgeler @LewSOS If every transaction at every point in the chain had a multiplier effect, the economy would go critical and inflation would rapidly approach infinity.

Ukrainian interceptor drones cost several thousand dollars each. One Patriot missile costs $4M. The US produced 600 Patriots in all of 2025. Middle East allies burned through 1,000 in under 2 weeks. The math favors Ukraine's approach. 3/

I started digging into an eye-popping $57m tax bill. The director claimed IRD had the wrong end of the stick and sent me financial statements he claimed proved his case. Dear reader, you would not believe what else those financial statements showed. nzherald.co.nz/business/kiwif…

@levi_From_NZ The tax due by the companies involved is almost exclusively PAYE/GST. Read the story.

@MattNippert So thats 9.1 million. Tax on that at 37% is 3.36 million. Where did 54 million come from? Thats a long way from 3.36 million bud

How was a bankrupt a director? He us still bankrupt and still a director of other firms? How does the Official Assignee complete an investigation into a multi million dollar company failure in less than two months? Is the Official Assignee taking on the vast bulk of IRD liquidations and doing no work? (Hint...yes) Does this mean there are no consequences for directors not paying taxes? (Hint...yes). Is MBIE failing to enforce the rules about, we'll, anything because the agency is broken. (Hint...yes).

@Aviation_Intel The real problem with mines isn’t that they’re an unstoppable super-weapon, it’s that they take an order of magnitude more effort to remove than emplace.

You can mine the waters using small boats and Iran trains to do exactly that. Even eliminating large ports won't keep them from retaining this capability, although it may make it harder. Hitting where the mines are stored is ideal, obviously.

It's after midnight in the UAE and I believe that for the first in many days--I believe for the first time since hostilities began--the UAE did not release numbers on the total number of drone and ballistic missile strikes upon the UAE and their success in intercepting them.

The hit vs. intercept rate for ballistic missiles and drone attacks since Feb. 28 for the UAE through today. Today is not like prior days.

In parts of the Middle East, Patriots are intercepting slow propeller drones because there is no cheaper defensive tier available. Every $5M missile fired at a $30k drone weakens ballistic missile coverage. That is the strategic trap. 3/
