My time at TalkTV is coming to an end! As you may have seen, Talk is moving away from linear, and as such I’ve decided it’s time for ventures new! As of May, I’m open to work! If you’re looking for a Vision Mixer, or fancy a coffee, give me a shout! mattrobinson.uk

Even now, watching this gets you pretty emotional. I remember being absolutely spellbound by this as a teenager - it really was artistic perfection. Being biased but I think this scene is the greatest part of any Olympic Opening Ceremony in history.

ADOPT A MALE RIDER FOR 2025 SEASON! It's adoption time, one of the most special days of the off-season - if you want a special rider for the 2025 season whom you can cheer for, let me know in the comments and I'll give you one from my ~1300-member list. Whether it will be a small continental team rider or Mathieu/Wout, fate will decide :)

Does HS2 have a future? And why might that question hinge on an unseen government document and a sugar mill in Nottinghamshire?🧵

Big days in politics are bookmarked by a brilliant @BBCNewsnight montage. Here is tonight’s courtesy of @adamlivingst0n3. I always urge broadcaster journalism students to check them out. You’ll see camera angles and music choices you didn’t see elsewhere

Why do I find myself still annoyed at us winning 4-1? Maybe because we’ve seen this story before with these players. #Ruud #MUNLEI

Reflecting on today's events and my time with The Streamr, I am firstly so grateful for all the writers and editors who put their heart and soul into their work for the site over the years - so many talented individuals that I had the privilege to work with. It was hard to ignore, but more and more issues arose over time, especially in the last 18-24 months, with numerous writers, all leaving the site, with many explicitly pointing to certain brash and manipulative behaviours from Mo. It wasn't particularly nice, being told who to follow, and who not to follow, and restricting engagement with certain individuals in our shared journalism space when we should have been championing each and every one of us with the same dreams. It was all too controlling at times, and there were so many opportunities where I almost called it a day but didn't due to our shared dream. Mo and I had a great working relationship at one point, with so much passion and ambition for how we wanted The Streamr to become down the line. Shared excitement for gaining various access to things, our first in-person events and so much more. It is a shame to see how it has all ended up. There were several times when my own mental health was at its lowest as a direct impact of the site and Mo's actions, despite this site once being the best thing that could have happened to me. There were times I was belittled, made to feel so small and dumb, and pulled up on things that people shouldn't have to be. I kept quiet for so long and felt so guilty about it all the time, but that is in the past now. My thoughts go out to Mo's family, I know that this will be a very tough time, given the completely unexpected outcome for them, just as it was for a lot of us. It’s been both painful and a relief to see so many speaking out on past experiences and finally freeing thoughts that have been held behind closed doors for too long. I am so proud to see everyone who has shared their stories, and I'm hopeful we’re all moving towards a better place. ❤️

This is not good news for cycling in the UK. Firstly, I'd like to say that there are a lot of passionate cycling fans working at WBD, in front of and behind the scenes. The company is automatically 'disliked' by a cohort of the general public because it's a huge international conglomerate, but Eurosport have been showcasing cycling since 1991. They have, and continue to do a hell of a lot for our sport. On the flip side, exclusivity on the biggest race in the world, the ONLY race where non-cycling fans might tune is, is very worrying. It's a significant barrier to entry into what is already a relatively niche sport in the UK. ITV not only do a fantastic job themselves of broadcasting the race, live and with easily accessible highlights, they provide a gateway to WBD. The fans they 'convert' each July are more likely to subscribe to Discovery+/Max/Eurosport once they've realised how amazing our sport is. They must have made lifelong cycling fans of millions of people over the last few decades (including me). Anyway, I really feel for Ned, Dave, Pete, Matt, Daniel, Gary and all the others behind the ITV production - thank you for all you've done for the sport.
