@Sen_JoeManchin Or we could have a system where the majority passes laws and then are held accountable by voters for the things they actually did, as opposed to the current way where voters are manipulated based on demagoguery and actual laws never get passed

Senator Joe Manchin
Senator Joe Manchin@Sen_JoeManchin·
When Democrats wanted to eliminate the filibuster in 2022, I stood my ground because I understood the consequences of turning the Senate into a glorified House with simple majority rule. Senator John Cornyn said of Democrats at the time: “They'll soon find themselves rueing the day their party broke the Senate.” The filibuster exists to make both sides work together and produce good legislation that can withstand the test of time. Eliminating the filibuster would consolidate even more power into the hands of the majority party’s leadership — and take power away from the minority and everyday Americans. When I was a U.S. Senator, there was not another person more committed to keeping the filibuster than Senator John Cornyn. He understood the incredible political pressure I faced from my former party to get rid of the filibuster and give Democrats complete power — and at the time, he understood why neither party should take our country past this point of no return. The filibuster — the soul of the Senate — has preserved the Senate’s role for nearly 250 years as the institution that cools passions, protects minority voices, and demands consensus. America was built on institutions designed to resist political convenience, not surrender to it. It’s deeply disappointing to see that Senator Cornyn is now willing to scrap the very rule he once praised and personally thanked me for defending. These extreme election-year politics that put party power over everything else are why Americans are sick and tired of the duopoly of the two-party system of Democrats and Republicans.

@1001TLtv Very good NBA player but def a Syracuse legend. Walked on! Totally green and oft-tortured by Boeheim but grew immensely over his four years, rocking the rims with DC!

The problem isn’t with empathy, which is a vital human virtue, but rather in its selective application. Just as we wouldn’t call love a sin because we might be stingy in our love, empathy isn’t a sin because its application is incomplete. Or, put another way, our problem isn’t with too much empathy, but too little. nytimes.com/2026/02/19/opi…

@Brightonian_ Just awful having two 20-goal scorers last year. Who would want to watch that?

I’m genuinely surprised some on here want Frank. The amount of complaining about our style of play under Hurzeler. But have any of you who want him actually watched a Thomas Frank team? It’s awful to watch. People would be complaining about “identity” and “style” during the first bad run.
Exiled Seagull@barhamstash

Other club’s not really helping FHs cause by sacking interesting candidates RDZ and Frank both whom the Albion fans would love to see. #bhafc

Guehi with a clear pull of the shirt. Only receives a yellow despite denying Salah a clear goalscoring chance. Shambolic officiating.

*And whereas inconsistencies like this used to be a thing because of dealing w/ numerous crews seeing & enforcing language & circumstance differently across the country, that understandable excuse is now DOA. The review now is centralized—particularly when you’re the only game on—so it’s the same people ignoring their own precedent, critical to understanding why it’s so f’d up

The reason the INT call last night in Denver was clearly BS is because this same NFL, given the same rule language, reviewed and decided Shakir DID satisfy 3c on 12/14, but somehow Cooks last night—given the identical rule language—didn’t. And Cooks inarguably exhibits control Shakir never had. So the NFL set their precedent. Then ignored it. It isn’t about what the rule says and if you feel Cooks fell short of what you think the football move control text of 3(c) means. It’s that the NFL created precedent (in the Shakir play and others in 2025) of what constitutes the control element. But then decided to interpret it far differently to decide the AFC Divisional.

@MattRoth70 @smiley_cha15153 @BadSportsRefs After completion of (a) and (b), the player must complete the catch (c) which states they must either a make football move (3 steps, surviving the ground, turning upfield) OR maintain clear possession Player was in the process of the 3rd step, so that’s the criteria here.

@smiley_cha15153 @BadSportsRefs Great point! How long does a stationary receiver have to hold onto the ball before it's a td? Why does the fact that he's running change the interpretation of possession?

@BadSportsRefs So if the receiver just stood there for 5 seconds and then the DB knocked the ball out it would be incomplete. You guys are full of $hit. If that was Travis Kelce it would’ve been a TD all day long. Another manipulated NFL game for one of their favorites.

@BadSportsRefs Stretching the ball away from the defender seems like a football move. What about a situation where a receiver catches the ball on his knees in the endzone. Does he have to do something to prove he's done catching it? Could the ball be punched out after 2 seconds?

Yankee fans upset that Grisham accepted the QO and that they may field “the same” or at least a similar lineup should recall they led MLB in runs, HR, slugging and OPS in 2025. I do get that $22M is a lot for .218 career hitter and they want to give Spencer Jones a chance.

@BrentAxeMedia One glaring problem is that we are giving up tons of offensive rebounds because the weak-side player down low is always flying by trying to block shots instead of getting in position for the rebound. Is that a calculated risk or something they need to fix?

Yep, it's still early, but the most encouraging thing about 🍊🏀 so far is a renewed defensive commitment. They keep the pedal down, press all game and actually look like they enjoy playing defense. They also realize it leads to more offensive opportunity.

@00jcf00 We'll see. The rebounding is a real concern. Seems they have prioritized trying to alter or block shots over getting position for rebounds. Not sure that's a winning formula against good teams.

6’8 Freshman Forward Sadiq White Jr. had a great showing in his Syracuse debut 14 Points 4 Rebounds 3 Blocks 6/8 FG 2/2 3FG 16 Minutes White had a strong performance where he used his size and athleticsm in a big way scoring efficiency at the rim, while also playing strong defense, he also showed the ability to stretch the floor all in limited minutes. Will be one of the best freshmen in the ACC.
