This shows what's wrong with football. Clubs expecting perfection at every level because they can film every single thing. Law 5 tells people to expect mistakes, but everyone ignores that.

@grassrootsrefJa Agreed. He’s definitely clumsy coming down and could justify yellow for reckless, but don’t think I can see excessive force there? He does come down on the ankle, but not really his fault. If he lands on his other foot first, it’s probably only a simple foul.

The only reason I can think of why VAR recommended a review for a red card is that they saw this freeze frame and forgot about all context of what the challenge was. Very bizarre decision, I'm not sure we'll see the referee or VAR in this Champions League again this season.

Maldon & Tiptree F.C. are deeply saddened to announce the passing of former Club Secretary and Vice Chairman, Roger Stapleton. A lifelong supporter and devoted volunteer, Roger dedicated countless hours to Maldon & Tiptree over many years. He served in numerous roles, including Club Secretary and Vice Chairman and was a familiar, friendly face at the turnstiles and around the ground. Roger always gave his time, energy and passion to help the club he loved thrive. Roger was more than a volunteer; he was a true club legend and an integral part of the Maldon & Tiptree family. His commitment, kindness and love for the club will never be forgotten. Everyone at Maldon & Tiptree F.C. sends their heartfelt condolences to Roger’s family and friends at this difficult time. We will be announcing next week our plans to ensure Roger’s name lives on proudly in the successful future of the club he held so dear. 🍓
