@EDUwithEmily I don't really think of the expectations I wonder what is the procedure if students do not follow directions. It isn't hard to make rules. It is hard to get students to follow rules and have logical consequences if they don't

Recently, during my IEP meetings I've been asking parents direct questions about their child's screen time, sleep schedule, and if they have family dinners together. I then provide the data on the harms and benefits. Is this appropriate of me to ask or is it outside my role?

@ModestTeacher Okay so let's pretend this is true - stop having such high expectations of Ts and what schools should be able to do for kids and just have us do the basics: keep them healthy, feed them, have fun.

I’ve been sounding the alarm on this for years… If teachers continue to abdicate their role to technology then this is inevitably the future of education.

@edulorechris We have done something similar but now teachers want for autonomy to create instruction that fits their unique classroom learners - but Ts still ALL start with the scripted lesson. Now all that is left to do is manage behavior and motivate students 💀

Is it controversial to say that I think over half of all teacher instructional time should be scripted? Scripted direct instruction would reduce teacher workload and improve student outcomes (in most schools). Comment your thoughts below…

Who deserves the most blame?

@ReadAFkGBook I'm 100% in with everyone that it is a problem but what are actual feasible consequences that don't involve students falling farther behind academically and still support strong relationships towards the school for both students and families?

I can't retire fast enough. A lot of students are rude, disruptive, disrespectful, and just plain lazy. Some are severly mentally ill. They face no consequences for their behavior, yet TEACHERS are held 100% accountable for the very issues they have ZERO control over.

Now onto what's happened career wise in the last few months. There's still a teacher shortage, but we also had to cut staff and salaries due to the budget. So there will be fewer teachers, less pay, and a higher student teacher ratio next year.
