It’s extremely disappointing that only 43% of the Lords Spiritual turned up to vote tonight in the debate on full term abortions. If such low turnouts for debates on crucial moral matters persist, something must be done to give the vacant seats to bishops who are able to commit.

Club chaplain Ken Howles conducted a short service, before representatives from Blackburn Rovers and the 100 Club laid wreaths at the gravestone ledger. In a shameful and immoral move tonight, the House of Lords has voted to decriminalise abortion up to birth for any reason. Sickening.

Every bishop with a seat in the House of Lords is morally obliged to be personally present there on Wednesday to vote against abortion up to birth, save for illness or bereavement etc.

One significant motion that was passed was the Northern Diocese’s affirmation of Gafcon’s Jerusalem Declaration, thereby aligning the Diocese with the Global Anglican Communion.
