@ap2pkh4u @Du_Bi_Bo @neha @BranBTC @GilKalai @CraigGidney “who is right?” is not one or zero and we have to think probability — there is definitely non-zero chance of CRQC emerging in 5 years and the question is how high is the chance and when should we take immediate actions. Keep repeating that Quantum is FUD is not going help.

@ap2pkh4u @Du_Bi_Bo @neha @BranBTC Basic science? Understanding Quantum computing is far from just understanding basic science and I don’t claim to be an experts here. There are experts who probably agree with you like @GilKalai but there also other experts like @CraigGidney who think otherwise. Who is right?

Follow up on Bitcoin and Quantum: A proposed roadmap. nehanarula.org/2026/04/20/bit… tl;dr: we should work towards activating a PQ-safe output type with PQ signatures now. everything else (including escape hatches, zk proofs, commit/reveal, to freeze or not) can, and should, wait.

TDR Pro bags are getting heavier. While I'm not convinced BTC has hit a cycle low, there are some high-quality assets trading within our "fair value" zones that appear to have bottomed or are in the process of doing so. The goal isn't to time the bottom perfectly, but rather scale into positions in which we think the risk/reward is on our side over a 1-3+ year horizon. We added four new positions today. One of which might be the most undervalued asset in the market. If you'd like to access the latest Portfolio Alert, see the link below 👇

@ap2pkh4u @Du_Bi_Bo @neha @BranBTC to you, what is the probability of Quantum computing breaking btc’s ECDSA in 5 years? That’s the only thing that matters, if it is high enough, then the earlier we start working on PQ signatures, the more time we will have to minimize bugs and flaws.

@ap2pkh4u @Du_Bi_Bo @neha @BranBTC We have to be reasonably confident to roll out the new signature scheme. It is better to start working and have a solutions ready and evaluate what is the actual chance of failure due to flaws and bugs. if we do nothing we can’t even evaluate that chance.

@Matthew__Wong_ @Du_Bi_Bo @neha @BranBTC Wrong, if that chance is 1%, you have to prove that the chance of one of the new "untested" PQ signature schemes have less than 1% chance of having backdoors, flaws and bugs. Otherwise, out of ignorance, this would make Bitcoin weaker, not stronger.

@Du_Bi_Bo @neha @BranBTC it is hard to agree on what is fud and what is urgent when there is a big difference in probability people assign to to the chance of Q day in 5 years. If that chance is at least 1 %, I think we definitely should lean on working on pq signature immediately

@neha @BranBTC It's okay to prepare. It's not okay to fud though. Quantum computing is a perceived threat and a lot of hype results in lots of funds for research. All good, even when quantum computing turns out to be a non starter (and it prrobably will): we'll learn a lot.

@LowBeta limited adoption as payment — do you think that will ever get better as long as there is capital gain tax ?

After spending time with the Big Brains, some additional thoughts on $BTC and quantum: *Everyone relevant is taking this seriously *There is more realism that blockchains have unique challenges compared to banks and tech companies *There are off-the-shelf solutions and lots of things in development, so conceptually it’s just an engineering project … *… But all the options include trade offs, and we may end up with some combination of bigger blocks and more complexity *The choice of digital signature scheme for each blockchain will reveal something about their priorities around security/resilience vs performance *Will $BTC choose the burn, steal, or hourglass proposal for Satoshi’s coins? Likely all of the above, in the sense that there will be forks, and community/market will decide which one is “best” *There is no strong grassroots consensus at this point on burn/steal/hourglass … * … but “burn” (or “freeze”) brings out the most passion (because feeling that it infringes property rights) *Everyone is aware of the Blocksize War tensions and last year’s debacle over OP_Return; as a result (some) people are taking more care to communicate thoughtfully on quantum topics *My two cents: there is lot of work to do, but blockchains will be fine, and this is not biggest problem for $BTC (in my view it’s limited adoption so far as payments medium)
Grayscale@Grayscale

Grayscale Research's analysis of the @Google Quantum AI paper suggests breakthroughs may come in sudden leaps, not gradual steps. That means preparation can’t be delayed. The good news: • Post-quantum cryptography already exists • Some chains like $SOL and $XRP Ledger are experimenting • The path forward is technically clear Read the full Stack article from @LowBeta and subscribe here: grayscale.com/the-stack/its-…

@UziCryptoo there’s more evidence that parents regret having kids than that childfree people regret not having them — but in both cases, regret is a minority.

Friend of mine is 35 years old, married and doesn’t want kids. His household income is roughly $300k/yearly and his house is nearly paid off. They invest a good portion of their income for retirement, take multiple yearly vacations and live a nice life. I think people like this are going to regret not having kids in their future. One day when he’s old all he will have to look back on is the random stuff he bought and wasted money on. Instead of putting that money towards having kids and building a family he’s choosing consumerism. This just seems so wasteful and boring to me.

We’ve had approximately a dozen post-quantum proposals for Bitcoin in the last week and some of you still think @nic_carter is a bad actor. He triggered the entire community into action and moved this conversation forward by five years. Maxis will literally make bitcoin quantum secure just to spite Nic. 100D chess.

Literally in the last 2 wks we’ve seen… 1. SHRIMPS/SHRINCS - multi-device small size PQ sigs 2. Solution (partial) to legacy coin confiscation from @roasbeef 3. QSM PQ sigs w/o fork… Yet VC shills will claim “Bitcoin is doing nothing”. Understand motives behind quantum FUD 🤑

@Matthew__Wong_ @BitPaine @nic_carter then so be it. btc need be stress tested to the maximum limits otherwise it will never achieve its fullest potential. anyone that tells you consensus is achieved by ways of a road map or planning ahead doesn't know wtf they're talking about. been bamboozled by fiat and gov. rot.
