𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗮𝘀 𝗝𝗮𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗜𝘁 It is with immense pride that I accept the role of Head Coach of Newcastle United. This club has the infrastructure, the ambition, and the resources to stand among Europe’s elite. I am here to make that a reality—faster, sharper, and without compromise. The vision for 2030 was always clear. What surprised me is how long it has taken to start closing the gap properly. Ambition delayed is ambition diluted. That ends now. I do not manage by consensus or comfort. I demand intensity, tactical discipline, and a relentless standard every single day. Those who share that hunger will thrive. Those who prefer the status quo already know the exit. Anyone who wants to leave—captain included—is free to follow the path already taken by Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali. No hard feelings. The project simply moves forward without passengers. Mediocrity has been tolerated for too long, both in certain corners of the dressing room and among those who settled for “progress” that never quite arrived. That chapter is closed. Newcastle United will no longer accept nearly-good-enough as a badge of honour. I am confident. I am certain. We will play with purpose, we will compete without apology, and we will raise the bar until the only conversation left is about silverware. The work begins immediately. @BBCSport
