@SteveChalke Interesting. I was thinking today why do boys struggle more in the classroom. Handed out 10 pens to Y8 in a lesson today. Everyone was to a boy. Who wouldn't engage in the learning - all boys. Really pronounced today.

Gareth Southgate is right. Too many young men are “suffering”, “isolated” & turning to “toxic” influencers in “search for direction.” And why do boys struggle more with education? We need more male teachers in our primary schools - such a critical stage in childhood development.

Why does no one talk about coastal schools? Higher PP, Higher deprivation due to seasonal work, Lower entrance into universities, Lower teacher recruitment, Lower teacher retention. I am researching exactly this so any ideas why they're being ignored would be a help.

The @bankofengland has cut interest rates for the first time since 2020. That's good news for homeowners and shows Labour inherited a strong economy. My concern now is that Labour's inflation-busting public sector pay rises have put further cuts at risk.

@implausibleblog Funnily enough, my wife and I work extremely hard in the public sector. Teacher and NHS. We can't afford to buy a house living in the southeast, yet alone send our children to private school! 'Working hard' has nothing to do with sending kids to private school
