March 4 Housing Justice
Court House
Parliament Street
Kilkenny City
February 28th
2:00pm
Join us as we march against the privatisation of Irish social housing, housing list discrimination and other housing issues facing the Irish people.
The social housing sector has completely transitioned into the hands of private interests through fronts such as charities and not-for-profits, known as Approved Housing Bodies.
The Irish Government has created grants and schemes that allow these billion euro asset funds to use tax payers money to renovate and upcycle distressed properties. The state then pays extortionate rent to these “Landlords” over a period of years, resulting in massive profits while the ownership of the properties remain in the hands of these landlords at our expense.
This is criminal levels of misappropriation of tax payers money. This is theft and dispossession of Irish land by the capitalist elite.
Irish people are being denied housing list access because they “are not from the area” while people staying in IPAS centres are granted unmitigated access all over the country and fast-tracked through the system. The Approved Housing Bodies have direct input into who gets the houses as they are now part of the allocation decision process. Big Capital, desiring labour abundance, will prioritise foreign nationals over the native as this is the economic model they thrive on. The conflict of interest here is off the scale and Irish people are being blackballed because of it.
Unacceptable. Get boots on the ground in Kilkenny, February 28th and march against the privatisation and theft of Irish public housing. Stand up the homeless Irish who are victims of this evil, anti-Irish system.
