guys, i honestly do not like clowning on Gary. I don't find being the butt of a joke funny, so I imagine he does not either. But, this is what worries me about where we are going. We are actively encouraging an entire generation that the tech is there when its not, and a couple of silly mistakes made on a website isn't the end of the world, but people's data and breaches are serious. We are entering a very VERY hackable world, and I do not like it one bit.

@addyosmani Taste is developed by the struggle of writing code though. When you offload that to an AI, you slowly lose that ability. Not to mention the new generation of devs that will not even develop it because of over reliance on AI.

AI made it cheap to generate code. Now the bottleneck is judgment. Taste is the differentiator. Great design will win.

@PovilasKorop Also, if it's going to take thousands of queries to process all the data, consider using `DB::disableQueryLog()`, otherwise each query is stored internally by the framework and you risk running out of memory.

Laravel tip. Processing thousands of DB records? Use `chunk()` to avoid memory issues! It retrieves records in small batches and processes them one chunk at a time. @jeffrey_way @PovilasKorop I think that just proves Povilas' point, that still over-engineered. If you presented that to any sensible dev, they would ask you "Why just not add the numbers inline? Why do you need a funcion?"

@PovilasKorop I think that's easily solved with a clear prompt. You can make it do whatever you want.

The main "problem" with AI is that it will never say you're stupid. If you ask it to generate the code that is stupid, in most cases, it will obey and generate *something* stupid. Because, well, you're the boss. So, my advice is to always ask it for alternative approaches.

@christophrumpel @driesvints @PovilasKorop This is the way. If the package stancl/tenancy made it easier I would have switched to using Sqlite for local dev years ago.

@driesvints @PovilasKorop I'm in the team: Go with the flow and start with SQLite even if the database is different in production. Adapt the flow if and when necessary. The only exception is when you know from the start that having the same database will be essential.

When testing dates, especially against Eloquent, I'm always bitten by sub-second precision. I get around this by creating a date with `startOfSecond` and passing to `setTestNow()`. But this feels clunky. Anyone else do something smoother?

@enunomaduro substr? Outside of very niche cases I don't see why you would use that instead of mb_substr. The same goes for every str function that has a mb_ equivalent.
