@curmudgeoncard Without being pedantic, does that matter? If all-cause death is decreased, should that not be celebrated? By extension, should mortality benefit be the only reason to advocate for vaccination?

Let me be clear…this is NOT an anti-vax statement—it’s an EBM comment. I am 💯commited to vaccination. We need to dial down much of the rhetoric about them. Many vaccines have never been shown to decrease mortality: not HPV, influenza, or COVID. Disagree? Show me the data.

@DrMichelIbrahim I could be wrong but I thought his first event was at training. There was a separate instance at a game where the ICD fired quite publically

when I spent a week or so digging through the pre-op literature a few months ago, I came away thinking it was easily one of the biggest areas of waste in medicine. almost none of it makes any empirical sense ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/CI…

Really great talk by Dr. Michael Rich: no evidence of benefit for peri-operative stress testing. #ACC21 Missing from this discussion: non-cardiac surgeons. They need to agree to operate w/o stress test

@a_h_ghoneem Could this be an area where weight loss therapies - ranging from semaglutide to bariatric surgery could have a role?
