@AmericanAir did you really refuse to honor your own family traveling policy and make a 5 yo sit by herself in a middle seat from BOS to LAX after her mom asked for assistance to sit by her? Shame on you!

Supporting a diverse surgeon workforce: embracing personality and supporting psychological resilience to improve surgeon health and wellbeing ➡️doi.org/10.1093/bjsope… 🔎Have a look at the invited commentary on the article by Greville-Harris et al. : doi.org/10.1093/bjsope… 👉Individual support (be it through resilience training or other psychological support), a cultural shift wherein providing wellbeing is prioritized, and persistent attention to areas of healthcare delivery systems that can be improved and optimized to reduce the burden on healthcare providers are undoubtedly necessary to curb the tide of burnout, stress and depression that poses a threat to the surgical workforce. 👏👏👏Tasha M Hughes, Carrie E Cunningham #SoMe4Surgery #MedTwitter #SurgEd #Surgery @me4_so @BJSAcademy @BJSurgery @young_bjs @juliomayol @JJEarnshaw @OUPMedicine

Gentle reminder about the “F-word” (not that one). The concept of “Medical futility” has an important place in academic and philosophical discussions of ethics and practice, but the word rarely builds bridges at the bedside. #hapc #medicalethics

Prof @PaulinaSalminen changing paradigms in appendicitis! What a spectacular BJS Lecture at the @SISEurope congress. 1- We talk about 2 different diseases: complicated and uncomplicated. 2- The therapeutic decision is not "YES or NO". 3- The APPAC series of studies demonstrates that most uncomplicated appendicitis will not need surgery. 4- What if we do not even need ATBs? 5- The rate of tumors behind abscessed appendicitis is NOT 14.4%. 6- Interval appendectomy after abscess is mandatory. Simply BRILLIANT! #SISE2024 @BJSurgery @BJSAcademy @juliomayol @InesRPsurg @MarjoleinBlusse @kemrasa @safesurg

Why are doctors always late? Why are they always tired? Why must they see >20 patients daily to keep the lights on? It’s important to empathize with each other. Thanks for this powerful analogy, @jjfitzgeraldMD.
