June 11, 1987: Danny Ainge hits a 40-footer at the halftime buzzer to cap Boston's 38-point second quarter in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. All five Celtics starters scored 20+ PTS in the 123-108 win over the Lakers—including Ainge, who finished with 21 PTS (5-6 3P) and Dennis Johnson, who had 25 PTS/11 AST. Magic Johnson had 29 PTS/12 AST/4 STL for Los Angeles, which holds a 3-2 series lead.

@JaredWeissNBA Did Mitch have any TOs left? Wondering if he could have then subbed Luke in to inbound to eliminate that size difference?

@stoolpresidente Oh please. He was so cocky during the first half saying that he’s in our heads. He never got a penalty for shoving Brunson. He can dish it and not take it?

Wemby shouldn’t get off easy either. Has to make those late FTs just like Castle did Monday night.

Would love to know if there has ever been a larger point differential from a team from the first to the second half in Finals history than the Spurs -46 tonight?

I will NEVER watch the NBA ever again after the refs steal this series from the Knicks. It's egregious. Unacceptable. Unforgivable.

@JohnOwning Hi John, was hoping you could provide me your email address. Doing some work with Brandon Aubrey this Friday, and wanted to get details in your hands about the event with the hopes of you potentially coming to check out. Thanks so much.

DAN FOUTS' SIX TOUCHDOWN DAY Fouts sets the #Chargers franchise single-game record by firing six touchdown passes in less than two quarters of play in San Diego's 55-21 rout of the Raiders in Oakland — Week 12, 1981. Tight end Kellen Winslow catches five TDs, four from Fouts. Charlie Jones and Len Dawson call it for NBC. #BoltUp

Being a Knick fan doesn’t mean being disrespectful to Spurs fans in any way…we get caught up during the games but we gotta show respect to our fellow humans…

@TheBigLead Home court/field advantage is not what it used to be. Just ask the 2019 Washington Nationals and Houston Astros.

The Big Lead@TheBigLead·
The New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs have not won a home game in this year’s #NBAFinals. It’s only happened twice in league history, as home court advantage plays a big role in pushing teams to victory. It may boil down to who can deliver in front of their home crowd as the series progresses. Winning just 1 or 2 games at home may lead to the championship.

@epescado777 @TheSiz1 @NBACobwebs I get IT is a HOFer, and one of the best PGs ever. But to say Dallas made a disastrous selection in Aguirre is pushing it. We're not talking about a guy that was a bust or a journeyman. In that case, I would agree. He was one of top scorers of the 80s, and a franchise player. 👍

@MaxDeFilippis11 @TheSiz1 @NBACobwebs Isaiah won 2 championships, as the best player on all of those teams, and almost won a 3rd in 88, losing to LA probably only because Isaiah got hurt. Also barely lost to Celtics in the 87 Eastern championship due to a miraculous play by bird. I don’t like Isaiah, but…

@TheSiz1 @epescado777 @NBACobwebs Seriously. I loved the 80s Mavericks, and there were many a playoff game when Aguirre would take over without breaking a sweat. But it was a disastrous selection. 🤣

@NoaDalzell @xMax2x I think the secondary ticket marketplace has played a big role. Fans of the visiting team have much easier access to games, creating a little bit of an advantage. Plus, there are no more Boston Gardens.
