@ShapoMelon @ScottGoetz_ What your graph doesnt show is % of net salary which gives a better picture. Eg in the 80s basic rate tax was 30% and the tax free allowance was much much less generous than today.
Net income spent on mortgage was probably higher . We paid more tax

Never will understand why old people get so viciously angry when it is explained to them they bought houses at a good time and it would be nice if similar conditions existed now. I suppose it is just insecurity at the idea owning a home really wasn’t a grand achievement for them.

It’s obvious to me that the recent attacks on pensioners receiving state pension by the younger generations is simply because they’re too thick and lazy to get off their asses and make something of themselves. They expect everything given to them. Scroungy useless bastards.
