BREAKING: Trump pauses "Project Freedom" for negotiations while claiming it was a "tremendous Military Success," despite no ship verifiably passing the Strait of Hormuz and Iran retaliating heavily by attacking the UAE in response to the operation. He says the blockade on Iranian ports remains in effect. Iran has repeatedly said it will not negotiate while the blockade continues.

Might donnie and his orchs begin to understand that his way of doing a “deal” might work internally b2b in the US, but country to country on a world scale, not so much 🤷‍♂️🙄
Valorix Research@DasamTejas

Alert 🚨 🚨🚨🚨 President Donald Trump announced on May 5, 2026 that the U.S. would temporarily pause “Project Freedom,” the military-backed operation launched to help commercial ships trapped in the Strait of Hormuz. The pause is reportedly intended to create space for a possible diplomatic agreement with Iran. What is “Project Freedom”? “Project Freedom” was launched after weeks of escalating tensions in the Gulf severely disrupted global shipping through the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world’s most critical energy chokepoints, responsible for roughly 20% of global oil and LNG flows. The operation involved: U.S. Navy destroyers escorting commercial vessels Air support from over 100 aircraft Around 15,000 U.S. service members supporting maritime security operations Trump previously described the mission as a “humanitarian gesture” aimed at helping stranded ships and restoring freedom of navigation after Iran’s blockade and regional attacks left hundreds of vessels stalled in the Gulf. Why was the operation paused? Trump said the pause was tied to “great progress” in negotiations with Iran and requests from regional mediators, including Pakistan. However: The broader U.S. blockade on Iranian ports reportedly remains in place Military assets have not fully withdrawn Shipping through Hormuz remains highly restricted and dangerous The White House is reportedly trying to balance: Preventing a wider regional war Reopening global shipping lanes Negotiating over Iran’s nuclear program and maritime restrictions Current situation in the Strait of Hormuz Despite the announcement: Commercial shipping traffic remains near a standstill Major shipping firms are still avoiding the route Maritime security agencies continue rating the threat level as “critical” Reuters reported: Thousands of sailors remain stranded Several Iranian drone and missile incidents were reported in recent days The UAE accused Iran of attacks on Fujairah oil infrastructure, though Tehran denied involvement Oil market reaction Markets immediately reacted to the news: Brent crude and WTI oil prices fell sharply on hopes of de-escalation The screenshot you shared shows oil futures down roughly 3.6% The S&P 500 rose as investors priced in lower geopolitical risk and easing energy concerns The market is essentially betting that: A Hormuz reopening deal could stabilize oil supply Inflation pressure may ease if crude prices cool Global recession risks tied to an energy shock could decline Key uncertainty The situation remains extremely fragile. Even with the pause: Iran still controls much of the northern side of the strait U.S. and Iranian naval forces remain heavily deployed Any attack on commercial shipping could rapidly restart military operations Diplomatic talks are ongoing, but no final agreement has been officially announce

🇺🇸🇮🇷 Trump just quietly folded “Project Freedom” in the Strait of Hormuz. Citing requests from Pakistan and “other countries,” he’s "pausing" the whole ship movement operation, while the blockade stays locked in full force and he still brags about “tremendous military success” and “great progress” toward some grand deal. The only problem... Iran bypassed the US porous blockade at will while nothing past Iran's blockade without permission. Oil futures just cratered below $100. Theater or the real deal? As for the real deal, it will be dictated by Iran. So humilating for Trump. Should have never let Israel drag the US into this quagmire.

🇮🇷 Fire just ripped through the reed beds of Iran’s Mighan Wetlands right outside Arak. Emergency crews fought it for hours before finally knocking it down. No casualties, cause still under investigation per state media. But Arak isn’t random as it’s home to one of Tehran’s most critical heavy water reactor sites, a cornerstone of the nuclear program the empire on behalf of Israel loves to obsess over. In the middle of this Hormuz showdown, every spark inside Iran gets put under a microscope until proven innocent.

🇺🇸 An American young man: I am now in Japan. And when I say that I am American, people look at me with contempt and disgust. And wherever I go in the world and say that I am from America, people look at me with hatred. We are now in a state of humiliation. This is disgusting and shameful, simply.

EU’s retaliation toolkit against US tariffs. Brussels has a deep arsenal if Trump pushes ahead with 25% auto tariffs. The options range from surgical to nuclear. Counter-tariffs on US exports. The EU has a pre-loaded list worth roughly €95 billion targeting Harley-Davidsons, bourbon, Levi’s jeans, soybeans, peanut butter, and Boeing aircraft. Politically engineered to hit Republican states hardest. Kentucky, Louisiana, and the Midwest farm belt feel it first. The Anti-Coercion Instrument. Brussels’ bazooka, built precisely for this moment. It allows the EU to restrict US access to public procurement, suspend intellectual property protections, block services exports, and freeze foreign direct investment. Never used. Designed to make Washington flinch. Digital and services strikes. The US runs a massive services surplus with Europe. Brussels can hit Big Tech where it actually hurts: tighter Digital Services Act enforcement, advertising taxes, and procurement bans on American cloud providers. Google, Meta, Amazon, and Microsoft are all exposed. Regulatory friction. Slow-walking approvals for US pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and chemicals. Tightening data transfer rules under GDPR. Reopening the Privacy Shield successor. Death by a thousand compliance officers. Pivot to other partners. Accelerating the Mercosur deal, deepening trade ties with Japan, India, and ASEAN, and finally signing agreements that have been gathering dust. Every contract signed elsewhere is a contract not signed with America. Financial countermeasures. Reducing euro-denominated reserves held in dollars, encouraging the digital euro, and quietly backing alternatives to SWIFT. Slow burn, structural, and the one Washington should fear most. The message from Brussels is simple. A deal is a deal. Break it, and Europe stops playing nice.
