The Kai Tak Arena falls silent for JV ❤️

Terribly sad news that we have lost one of the greats of snooker in John Virgo. JV was incredibly generous, kind and funny. He was also a wonderful player and commentator. Thoughts with Rosie and all of his family. Thanks for all the great memories JV ❤️

You cannot imagine how excited I was a kid to watch John Virgo do his silly snooker impressions at the World Championships every year. I was into them more than the snooker. Probably not a good look to cry while travelling on a train this morning. RIP JV

So sad to hear about the news of John Virgo’s passing. He was a great character and an amazing pundit/commentator. I had the pleasure of sharing the booth with him during the world championships a couple of years ago in which I got a huge appreciation for how good he was. We’ve lost some great people of our game just recently which is incredibly sad😢

2014 I got to the semi final of the China open, I practiced in Beijing with Xintong for a few weeks , 5-1 5-0 5-0 5-1 5-0 to him,I still remember it now , in practice his was unplayable, long blues from the black area when out of position without a care in the world.

Shaun Murphy hit the nail on the head there. WST have far more lucrative revenue streams than just selling tickets and it’s pure fantasy that the Worlds would sell out larger venues over 17 days, the reason it does now is because of The Crucible. Don’t fix what isn’t broken.

Would it be the worst idea for the worlds to be moved to the ally pally and the masters moved to the crucible?? Bigger venue for the worlds and 1 table set up at the crucible for the masters 🤷🏼‍♂️ 🤷🏼‍♂️ 🤷🏼‍♂️ keeps both in the uk!
