@RoseAOwen (3) from Plato, instead of choosing to die for love, Orpheus dared to demand that Eurydice return to Earth to be with him. As a result, the Gods consider him a coward and punish him by offering Eurydice and then taking her back to the underworld

@RoseAOwen (2) from Ovid, Orpheus thinks that Eurydice stopped following him while he was leading her out of the underworld, so he turns around to check on her (and also is just eager to see her)

@RoseAOwen I think there are a few versions, but these are the most famous: (1) from Vergil, Orpheus reaches the light and is overcome with passion so he turns to look at Eurydice, but forgets that the condition is they both need to be above ground for her to stay on Earth
