For Civil War people: If you haven't read Henry Kyd Douglas's "I Rode with Stonewall," do so. He was with Jackson from Jackson's initial posting at Harpers Ferry through the Valley Campaign, Antietam, and Chancellorsville, almost all of that time on Jackson's personal staff. Wounded and captured at Gettysburg, he was exchanged and ended the war leading the last unit to stack its arms at Appomattox. It's anecdotal, with lots of personal accounts both of Jackson and day-to-day life in the Confederate army. Douglas himself was a sort of a David Niven type--charmingly self-deprecating, good humored, often funny, and a gifted story-teller. In my experience, it's unique among Civil War memoirs.

@ultras_antifaa So... w/out immigrants and refugees from Africa there is no French culture? Using one example of some Spaniard to rationalize overwhelming France ? Really dumb.

❝To those who tell me 'France is for the French,' I remind them: My grandfather was a Spanish refugee who sought asylum in this country. If it weren't for refugees and immigrants, the French culture you are so proud of today would not exist.❞ — Eric Cantona

@newstart_2024 The answer depends to a certain extent on the prevailing economic mode society is operating under. But I see a catastrophe about to happen once it becomes socially acceptable to date robots.

Our species norm is polygyny: 80% of cultures historically let high-status men hoard wives while low-status men get nothing. Christianity (inherited from Rome) forced monogamy for 2000 years. Now we've mostly ditched it—and we're sliding back toward the old pattern. Louise Perry: Lifting the monogamous restriction produces worse outcomes—higher crime, domestic violence, economic inequality. Monogamy is better for women and low-status men. Monogamy isn't "natural"—it's an engineered cultural upgrade that tamed inequality and violence. Do you think monogamy is worth defending even if it's not the "default" human pattern? Or are we better off returning to the species norm? Your take 👇

@MaskedDefender @ElectaWing @charlesmurray There were. Even a few months after the war slave auctions were still being held in Union Kentucky. Slavery still existed in many Union states- Delaware, New Jersey, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri

@MaskedDefender @ElectaWing @charlesmurray Also, The Confederacy could not easily free any slaves. By law this had to be done by individuals or a state. The several proposals by the CSA govt to free slaves would have involved the central govt lobbying each state to act.

@MaskedDefender @ElectaWing @charlesmurray Lincoln himself refused to emancipate his own slaves. He acquired a few thru marriage. Instead of freeing them, he sold them for a profit. At the time this did cause a rift within his own family, some of his cousins were dismayed by his behavior. (1850).

@MaskedDefender @ElectaWing @charlesmurray They also did it earlier. Also at the exact times that the South considered freeing slaves, and enlisting them in the army & letting them remain in the South, Lincoln was trying to deport all the slaves & ex slaves & free blacks out of the US, up to the day he got shot.

@Mayanrocket @ElectaWing @charlesmurray Yeah ... um ... The United States of America was the thing and a bunch of black people torturing evil crackers weren't going to make off with half of it. As they found out the hard way. Show me a citation on this offer.

@MaskedDefender @ElectaWing @charlesmurray Historian Gary Gallagher (not a fan of the CSA) said a Union victory before 1863 would have kept slavery. The CSA also offered more than once to end slavery in exchange for independence. The Union said no-because slavery was not the thing.

@Littoria14 Yeah, he is an obvious tool of the 'establishment.' His tweets reek of being composed by the ADL, Media Matters, the EU Brussels HQ...Totally compromised.

I am seeing Spencer deny that he is an SPLC informant. He is lying. He didn't just leak Mike Peinovich and his attorney's emails, he has also doxed most of the people he has worked with. He even helped dox me to the SPLC in 2019. He provided SPLC journalist Mike Hayden with photos of me from inside his Alexandria residence. As for being an FBI informant, there's no reason he wouldn't be. There are a few people I know who had the feds up their ass about something only a small group of people -- Richard being one -- knew about. Spencer as fed informant is circumstantial, but evidence that Richard has been working for the SPLC for many years now is irrefutable.

We used to have these. They were called Apartment Hotels. They’d consist of a single room with a bathroom, housecleaning, a cafeteria and lounges. Imagine being able to rent month to month and not need to furnish an apartment. It was ideal. Nuts we got rid of these.

Lots of people's social & romantic lives could be vastly improved if it was normal for young adults to live in college dorm-style accommodation in city centres until they were ready to set up home properly. Why doesn't this exist? I think there would be a market for it!

@MaskedDefender @ElectaWing @charlesmurray Va shot down secession and then went into a highly legalistic secession debate, days on days over legal minutiae. Finally they left due to DC giving them the condition on staying was that they had to send boys to start shooting other Southerners. This is why they left.

@MaskedDefender @ElectaWing @charlesmurray Confederates fought for their own self determination, to make their own decisions on matters. They also fought to repel a violent and then foreign invasion of marauders, arsonists and in some cases rapists. They fought for their home more than for slavery.

John Doyle is correct There *is* a plan. It was all planned in secret by insiders with no input from the public. They screwed up. The regime didn't collapse like in a Hollywood movie. In fact, the plan has clearly backfired
Alexander Augustine@WurzelRoot

The Blaze employee, John Doyle, commenting on the war with Iran, "You don't have to blindly 'trust THE plan,' you do kinda have to trust that there is A plan." The absolute state of MAGA shills.
