@MrChrisArnell No, I did not post her name out of respect for her privacy. Our efforts and the community's outpouring of support are evident and well documented.

@libsoftiktok If someone's first word is "Yawn," then perhaps a nap is what they need. This was not concern, it was condescending.

In 2019, when Van Johnson was a mayoral candidate for Savannah, Georgia, he participated in a "Black Press Only" event that EXCLUDED White press from the building. Today, Mayor Johnson is telling concerned residents to "take a nap" for asking him how he would support Ashley Wasielewski following an acid attack by a deranged lunatic. Why does @MayorJohnsonSAV hate White people?

This was the mayor of Savannah, Georgia’s response to a resident asking what he’s doing to support Ashley after a lunatic poured acid on her. “Maybe you should take a nap.” Disgusting

Deeply saddened by the untimely passing of @BishopRTJackson who changed GA & loved Savannah. A fearless ambassador of God, he always spoke up for the downtrodden. He was my confidant, mentor & spiritual advisor. I am blessed to know him. We have lost a giant. Rest well, Sir.

Yesterday’s “Building Healthier Communities” briefing featured powerful insights from members of the @OurMayors, who are proving that local leadership drives national change. Here are a few key takeaways from the conversation: ✅Mayors move communities. As @MayorJohnsonSAV, Georgia, reminded us, “When mayors move, communities move as well.” ✅Small cities make a big impact. Mayor Kim Thomas of Richmond Heights, Ohio, shared how her city’s weekly yoga, bike rides, and line dancing events keep residents connected — physically and mentally. ✅Partnerships are powerful. Mayor @Monichols of @cityoftulsagov, Oklahoma, described how Move with the Mayor® inspired new public-private partnerships, including the city’s Office of Health and Well-being, which integrates mental and physical health across city programs. ✅Health is personal. Many mayors spoke about why wellness is at the heart of their leadership — from personal experiences to a shared belief that prioritizing community health is just as important as improving infrastructure. 💬 Thank you to AAMA and featured speakers for spotlighting these inspiring leaders. “Politics is politics, but health is real.” @cityofsavannah, Georgia, @MayorJohnsonSAV reminded us during yesterday’s “Building Healthier Communities” briefing that mayors have the power to do more than improve infrastructure. They can help people live longer, healthier lives. Through Move with the Mayor®, leaders like Mayor Johnson are showing how local action can inspire national change by: ✅Building connections that support mental and physical health ✅Encouraging active, healthy living for all residents ✅Using their platform as trusted messengers to elevate public health 👏 Thank you, Mayor Johnson, for leading by example and reminding us that stronger communities start with healthier people. Third time repairing bullet holes because @MayorJohnsonSAV and the @cityofsavannah Council seems to think that some neighborhoods in Savannah are not as important as others. Let me help you out: Establish/Expand a Community Violence Intervention (CVI) office Fund violence interruption and outreach programs Expand unarmed mental health crisis response teams Support reentry and workforce programs for returning citizens Invest in youth jobs, mentorship, and after-school programs Improve street lighting and environmental design Increase affordable housing and stabilize vulnerable neighborhoods Strengthen partnerships with community-based organizations Launch a neighborhood safety councils with resident leadership Create small business grants in high-violence corridors Expand trauma recovery and victim support services Increase access to addiction treatment Use data-driven hotspot interventions and transparent reporting

Mass Communications students and The City of Savannah Communications Team are working together on @MayorJohnsonSAV State of The City Address by producing video highlights of the city's accomplishments. They were putting the final touches on the project in our Mass Comm studio today, and it was great to witness everyone working together. The production will be aired during the Mayor's address next Wednesday. This project is part of a partnership where the city's comm team is embedded in our Strategic Communications Lab class taught by Professor Margaret Williams (#SSU Class of 1984). All semester students have been shadowing the city's comm team and creating content for social media and other platforms. The City of Savannah Strategic Communications Manager Aurelle Ross ( #SSU Class of 2020) is leading the project and sees it as a win-win for #SSU and the city. @savannahstate @ssucmacwins @cityofsavannah #industryembeddedlearning #handsonlearning #studentsuccess

CMAC students played a central role in helping to produce @MayorJohnsonSAV's state of the city address thanks to a partnership with the @cityofsavannah communications team. The city's comms team is embedded in Prof. Margaret William's Strategic Communication Lab class. Everyone has been working on this project the entire semester. Students helped to create and produce video cut-ins about the city's progress during the live state of the city address, designed graphics, and assisted with production roles during the mayor's presentation at the Dr. Otis S. Johnson Cultural Arts Center. We are so grateful for this major resume-building opportunity and are overwhelmed by the amount of personal attention given to our students by the mayor and his team to help coach and mentor students during this successful event. #industryembeddedlearning #AurelleRoss #AriunaDorsey #JMC #SSU
