An Answered Prayer: Nearly two years ago, I had surgery on my left lung after it kept filling with fluid. After the procedure, I was struck with a chronic sharp pain with each inhalation ... the deeper the inhalation, the sharper the pain. My doctor told me that the pain was surely related to surgical scar tissue as tissue expands and contracts with my breathing. But, as anyone with any kind of scar knows, scars don't stretch like surrounding tissue does. The doc told me I'd likely have that pain for the rest of my life. So, I prayed. "Dear Father. You are the great physician. You can heal me of this pain," Honestly, I prepared to suffer for the rest of my life. But I prayed anyway. I woke up this morning, took a deep breath ... and realized that my pain is gone. For the first time in nearly two years, it doesn't hurt to breathe. I'm not sure when the pain went away, frankly. Maybe it's been gone for a couple weeks? But I just noticed it this morning. But I do know this - God works miracles. They are available for the asking.

Opinion | I was a lifelong liberal Democrat. Then I learned that Kamala Harris and debate moderator Linsey Davis were members of the same 360,000 person sorority, and went to college only 13 years apart and only 250 miles away from each other.

I remember when this guy was in the state legislature with me, and his whole thing was, government is the problem and shouldn’t exist. That’s still his shtick. Now he makes 6 figures as a congressman, and my only advice is: don’t listen to this man’s opinion on public service.
