We’ve concluded our inception meeting on black soldier fly as an alternative fish feed, held @NaroBugizardi. Next steps: characterize agro-products for substrate development and formulate nutrient-optimized substrate ratios. @kasozinasser,@BulindiZ,@nafirri,@NaroKawanda

Watch: Scientists at the Mbarara Zonal Agricultural Research and Development Institute (@mbazardi) are studying the Jianzhou big-eared goat, a Chinese breed introduced through the FAO–China South–South Cooperation (SSC) Project. Andrew Wange Bugyenyi, Senior Research Officer and Program Leader for the Animal Resources Research Program at @mbazardi, says the goats show strong potential to boost meat production. Today, the joint #SSC review mission visited @mbazardi, the host for livestock technology transfer including the Guangzhou Big-Ear Goat breeding program. Through tech transfer & #innovation, the project is building resilient livelihoods for Ugandan farmers.

The Institute received six goats in October 2025 under the South to South cooperation. The goats which have since doubled in number are known for a fast growth rate, gaining a kilo in weight every five days
