27 July 1941 | A Dutch Jewish boy, Louis Van De Kar, was born in Amsterdam. In October 1942 he was deported to #Auschwitz. He was murdered in a gas chamber together with his sister Anna and Benvenida, and his mother Flora. The father - Daniel - survived the war.

I could be totally wrong here, but it’s been bothering me why Leo Varadkar resigned and I’ve come to a conclusion it was a mixture of things, but two in particular. I think the NO NO vote in the referendums did upset him. I think he realised he didn’t have his finger on the pulse anymore. But I think it was his visit to Washington for Patrick’s Day that sealed his resignation. I was watching coverage of the visit to Biden. The pleasantries were observed, but there was no warmth. It looked to me like President Biden was not showing Leo much respect. It just looked to me like something wasn’t quite right. At best Leo got a lukewarm reception. I think Leo delivered a message to Biden about Gaza and it wasn’t taken well at all. After the meeting Leo said “The president was very clear that the US would continue to support Israel and to assist Israel to defend itself, so I don’t think that is going to change.” Reading between the lines I get the impression that Biden basically told Leo to Foxtrot Oscar. Ireland has always had a fantastic relationship with America, but I think we overestimated it. To go to Washington and basically question US support for Israel was overstepping the mark. I think it has dented Irish US relations. So I think Leo decided enough was enough. As I said, I could be totally wrong on this, I probably am, but my gut tells me all is not as rosy between ireland and the US as it was. America is a great ally to have and Ireland has a closer relationship with America than most, but we can damage that relationship by doing exactly what we are doing 👇.

URGENT! The International community must help Egypt prepare refugee camps to take women, children, and elders out of Rafah immediately!!! Otherwise, Rafah will be a bloodbath. Israel is determined to control the border town of Rafah, capture fleeing Hamas militia, free the hostages, and destroy smuggling tunnels. Egypt has a responsibility towards Gazan civilians, preventing vulnerable civilians from crossing during war in the name of sovereignty is not acceptable. The refugees can stay in designated and controlled zones until the war ends. In any war crisis neighboring countries open their borders for humanitarian reasons. -Israel must control the border (Philadelphi corridor) before the Rafah invasion, allowing vulnerable civilians to cross in coordination with Egypt. -No man under 50 should be allowed to cross.

This is Anastasiia Savka, 25, callsign "Phoenix", mom to Yarema. Before the full-scale invasion, Anastasiia was an administrator in the car service center. When Russia invaded, she became a sniper and fought in the Zaporizhzhia direction. She stepped on a Russian mine during a combat mission and lost her left leg.
