So @openclaw’s memorySearch is disabled by default and it has amnesia… Built in options are “local” or using a Gemini or OpenAI API key. But I also found the memory system subpar for my needs — I wanted a distinct memory for my wife and I, and I wanted to have more structure to things like projects, reminders, etc. So the other night I worked with my Moltbot to build out an alternative memory system where I use an Obsidian Vault as the memory store, and I use @tobi’s qmd as the search (Moltbot compared its local model and qmd and concluded qmd was way better). I’ve been iterating on it before bed and during my commutes and I’m getting pretty happy with it. I made this memory system a project inside the vault itself and I call it “Dumbo” (an elephant never forgets). Still polishing it up but when it’s in a good place I’ll push the folder up to Github for anyone that’s interested in doing the same. I think this is how Moltbot was meant to work — but doesn’t quite. Here’s how Moltbot describes Dumbo:
