Why is Zohran considered a big success in NYC? Rents are way up. Real wages are down. Is it because he speaks to his electorate in a way they can understand, as you would to a group of 5 year olds?

Ben Affleck shares how he overcame his alcohol addiction. Says it is not “overpriced rehabs”. “I hate to say it but the cure for addiction and the only cure I’ve seen is not these overpriced rehabs or these fraudulent fixes that are sold to people” “The cure for addiction is suffering” “You suffer enough and then something inside you goes ‘I’m done’”

@McHeartattack3 @ZhugeYY Did you just take a swipe at a person (undoubtedly smarter than you) giving thoughtful responses to thoughtful questions and also expose a foot fetish at the same time?

In fairness, I probably should not have said he is an unimpressive director (he clearly is impressive in that regard). I just do not think he is that impressive intellectually or that he understands even where the chinawoman is coming from. But in the end, being impressive at your craft has little to do with intelligence often. also, I stand by what I said: he obviously had one canned line about "xenia" to seem intelligent, and when she did not push back on it even though it was not the best answer (because it was not a contentious interview), like a child, he just kept going back to that well for subsequent answers. Who cares if the movie failed or not commercially. Is that your idea of success? Are you astounded by Infinity War? Anyways, isn't the main drive of the commercial success IMAX (which, good for him for being able to film in that, I guess that is good on him as a director and videographer). But, if that is the only great thing about the film (it being technically new in 2026), itll be forgotten in 280 years, let alone 2800. (done soying out on Nolan now lol)

@McHeartattack3 @ZhugeYY I'd fairlly indifferent to Nolan, I think he is somewhat overrated and will just wait for this on streaming. But the weirdos over-investested in seeing this fail (it didn't) and wishing ill upon him need to get some fresh air.

@CaudilloXIV Actually, Ms. Hensley gave me that clarification during my second grade graduation ceremony right before I saw AotC in the theatre for Natalie to confirm it

Being straight is about procreation. "What about infertile couples." there is a reason why you have to modify them as infertile (while you would not with what a normal hetero couples). Phags cannot do that. This is why the average hetero has like 7 partners but the average gay has like 80 (because it is about sex) watch, the harpy will now say "wow, you know a fact, what are you gay!"

@Pearlita3000 That wouldn't get rid of the vast majority of women and children and would still keep the majority of men. it would require literally forcing people out the same way they were forced in. I would be for that but most would not. I want an NYC of a million people

Kevin O'Leary says he informed his son he’d be left with absolutely nothing and it turned him into a Tesla engineer "I created a generational skipping trust, everything paid for, and then nothing. They get nothing" "I went home and explained the structure to my four and six-year-old kids. They didn't get it" "Years later, when my son was failing in high school he said, 'What happens if I don't get into college?' I said, 'Wow, I'm dead and you're broke'" "It's out of my hands, it's run by trustees. This trust only pays while you're in school" "He figured out, 'Shit, I'm in trouble.' And he got down to it, put his nose to the grindstone, graduated, got into college, became an electrical engineer" "Got hired by Elon Musk at Tesla in the early days... applied to MIT and Harvard... got into both. He's at Harvard"

What part of this is charismatic? the extremely fake smile or the fact he is wearing a collared shirt? no one is going to lay down their arms and then die for this man like they would Napoleone. He is taking money from one person and giving to another. That tends to make you popular with the latter (it has nothing to do with charisma). Some old communists were charismatic; but again, those were men who needed to make other men kill themselves for the cause.

Charisma has always mattered in politics, but my impression is it‘s a far larger factor in third-world democracies. Very common to see countries run by charismatic leftists who leave country in shambles but continually have new programs to “help” people and remain fairly popular. Fortunately such people are often at least pragmatic to moderate application of their stated ideology. Corruption (which is also very common) can also be a moderating force. I expect we’ll see more of this in the US.

i ran into zohran while he was out & about, got to chat with him briefly, & my god this dude is definitively a once in a generation politician. i mean he is remarkably difficult to dislike. he always has that giant smile, never seems overly performative, & does stuff like this all the time around the city. overall the dude is great. now, if he toned down some of the crazier government run stuff, price controls, rent freezes, etc. he’d unquestionably go down as legendary.

@Danbites When the midwit brought up “xenia” for the fourth time and basically ignored every new question, were you as astounded as the first time? Seriously, it’s like a child who has only one thing to lean on during a presentation.
