@ArminRosen Watching a bunch of out of shape and out of practice performers try to nostalgia blast us was comical in 2022, but I wouldn’t say it was good by any means. Like…they barely got through it. I thought 50 was gonna keel over.

@colecubelic Since January 1, 2025 that team has played 15 games, all under the gun of win-or-else. In that time they’ve had injuries that affected draft stocks and even next season. They don’t anyone anything; certainly not to play an exhibition game. It’s their call to say “nah, no thanks.”

When folks reference bowls as "meaningless" & "for nothing" due to no conference or national title at stake... How much of the regular season are they also immediately discounting?

@ChaseDaniel No because NDs boss sat at the table and demanded it. Texas and Vandys boss agreed to it didn’t demand the same for them. That’s the difference

“What kind of message does Notre Dame send?" bowl official told @on3. "We didn’t make the playoffs, so let’s just pack it up & go home. You think BYU’s not upset. Hell ya they are. So are other teams, but they sucked it up. That’s poor leadership.”

The final AP Poll of the regular season: 9. Notre Dame 10. Miami 11. Alabama The gap between Notre Dame and Miami in voting is bigger than the gap between Miami and Alabama. Notre Dame is also closer to No. 8 Oklahoma in voting than No. 10 Miami.

@NicoleAuerbach It’s odd concept, but maybe they just thought that is what they were and ranked them appropriately.

@chucktodd And do what? Maybe take note acc - do what the mountain west did and have your highest rated teams in the championship game and not a 5 loss team.

@slmandel It’s very clear that Texas should be ranked ahead of Notre Dame, unless “prettiest resume” or “analytics” matter more than actual results. If ND is ahead of Texas simply because they have 2 losses and Texas has 3, then 11-1 James Madison should be ahead of both.

The interesting thing about ND is while we're debating whether they should be in the CFP at all, almost every power rating has them as a top-5 team, not borderline Top 10. Sagarin: No. 2 FPI: No. 3 FEI: No. 4 SP+: No. 5 Massey: No. 6 But, those are predictive, not resume.

@ChaseDaniel @chucktodd People saying 10-2 with losses to two 4 loss teams is the same as 10-2 with losses to two teams with a combined 3 lossss is nonsensical even when a H2H exists.

@AriWasserman Losing 2 games to four-loss teams that will end up unranked not mattering is a helluva North Star.

@AriWasserman @AndyStaples Know why Miami isn’t playing a Top 12 Pitt team this weekend? Bc ND blew # 23 Pitt off the face of the planet. Know why ORE didn’t beat a Top 12 USC team last week? Because ND beat # 20 USC by 10 while rushing for 300 yards. Saying and doesn’t have quality Ws is just fictional.

@BrooksAustinBA think this out…if MIA doesn’t play ND to start the season they probably end up playing either a midcard G4 or P5. Probably aren’t getting a a T10 team that weekend by chance. So Miami would be 10-2 with no good wins, 2 bad losses, and be ranked like 18th. Maybe don’t sched FCS?

If TV viewership is a deciding factor, stats say Miami has drawn a bigger crowd this season.

“Notre Dame is only in because they bring ratings” Uh… Notre Dame has one game this season ranked inside the the top-20 in viewership… If the CFP selects them, it’s because they think they are one of the 12 best. Argue that, don’t argue the brand allegiance thing.
