I’m glad to hear you say this. We ( @Canadians4LTC ) have been saying this for 3 years now and only now are we hearing this language from the federal gov’t. We don’t need a transition period. The provinces have lagged for far too long! There is nothing novel or surprising here.

We need LTC standards to be mandatory, however there may need to be a transition period for building upgrades & staffing. Only those committing to mandatory standards should get Fed money and then they need to be monitored & standards enforced. Canadian seniors deserve no less.

@DrVivianS Not to mention the goal of 4 hours of direct care per per day is an AVERAGE by 2025, which means many residents will be left with less than that - NOT what experts have recommended!
