Fun Fact: Muslims don’t pray in streets in Iran, Saudi Arabia, or other Muslim countries—it’s illegal and rude, disturbing others. They only do it in countries they’re conquering, as a dominance strategy. Do you back banning public players in streets? A. Yes B. No

OK, Glasgow University is appointing a new rector. Fine. One of the candidates is the prominent British-Palestinian surgeon Dr Ghassan Abu-Sittah, used as a pundit on Gaza by the BBC, Sky and CNN. So far so good. The problem is that, as the @JewishChron has revealed, in 2020 Dr Abu-Sittah was filmed emotionally eulogising a founder of a terrorist group that later participated in the October 7 attacks. You can watch the footage below. Weeping at the grave of Maher Al-Yamani – who co-founded the terror group the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) – Dr Abu-Sittah heaped praise on the terrorist leader, saying that even after his death, “the Israelis will still be afraid”. Al-Yamani had led "the most ferocious campaign in the West Bank,” Dr Abu-Sittah added. All of which brings us to an unaboidable question. Should @UofGlasgow really be considering this man as rector? For that matter, should the BBC, Sky and CNN be continually using him as a commentator? You tell me.

From next week, all fruit, veg, meat and dairy arriving from the EU will have to undergo paperwork checks, which will hinder deliveries and drive up costs. It’s a recipe for disaster. Another Brexit dividend... independent.co.uk/voices/brexit-…

@Darren61364903 @hatetheracists @campbellclaret The problem with the EU food miles there is not enough cost. Quite often food is sent to multiple places; eg grown in place 1; sent to place 2 for sorting/ cleaning; place 3 for packaging. even cases of food grown in place 1 only to travel across EU back to place 1.

@Darren61364903 @hatetheracists @campbellclaret Plenty of places to get those things from outside the EU and with competition the market will decide where they come from. Yes you are right we don’t at all need every food item every day of the year.

@Mean1963 @hatetheracists @campbellclaret But it cant be grown locally the UK hasnt got the climate to grow it locally and have it available 365 days of the year. Hence why you need the EU. You tell me where in the UK you can get grapes year round lemons oranges tomatoes. Or are you suggesting you dont eat them anymore?

Amendments still need to be finalized in the House (which already passed it), and then the governor is expected to sign it. It should be a done deal.

@stephenwhittle In an academic sense, no topic should be off limits. Even if the academic findings (provided they are rigorous) seem to discriminate against a protected group under the EqA, the nature of the research is stateable and protected by #AcademicFreedom.

Dear @CNN @BBCWorld @CBS Why are you ignoring the ongoing massacre of Christians in Nigeria? Isn't it news worthy, or are the victims the wrong colour? How is it that @FoxNews and @visegrad24 are the only international news telling it like it is. Why is @Biden refusing to place Nigeria on the list for countries where there are concerns? How many more Christians need to be killed by Islamic Jihadists before the international community gets involved? Where are the sanctions. @SecBlinken came to Nigeria and refused to say anything about the genocide. @RishiSunak is it when there is a humanitarian crises as a result of Nigeria falling into the hands of terrorists before you act ? The situation in Nigeria is a ticking time bomb, something has to be done NOW!

@GroupHarding Hopefully, the sector will be restructured -nationalisation and reductions in management costs is the way forward. Plus a ban on FE providing low quality HE courses and dropping of the home fees system.

Universities warned the UK government what would happen if they sent out the signal that international students are not welcome. What will the government do now they've inflicted this damage on one of the UK's most successful exports?

Humans are not clownfish. We cannot change our sex. We are gonochoric, meaning we remain male or female for life. Clownfish are sequential hermaphrodites, meaning they go from producing one gamete (the sperm) to producing the other gamete (the eggs).

The Islamic Republic of Iran has already officially executed 55 people in 2024, and this month isn’t even over yet. This is a short clip of some of our compatriots who were sent to the gallows after forced confessions, little or no access to legal counsel, torture, and sham trials.

@Darren61364903 @hatetheracists @campbellclaret Oh dear me. Food miles are a major concern for anybody with an ounce of worry about the environment. Do you think it if is OK to send produce around the EU in this way when much can be grown locally with much less damage.

Prof. Hines seems to misunderstand the very basis of this case; that we do have the right to challenge the thinking of her establishment without fear of harassment. Basic stuff as is the immutability of sex.
Prof Jo Phoenix@JoPhoenix1

Oh Sally. You are good for a laugh. Isn’t that the point I’ve been making all along? *Everything* can be questioned. But conduct has objective effects. In this case, one effect is the establishment of legal facts of the case in the form of a judgement.

Maybe because y’all are trying to erase women and all of our safeties and legal protections, and trying to gaslight and coerce gay/lesbian people into changing their s3xualities for you, maybe because y’all advocate for permanent body modification & sterilisation of minors, maybe because y’all are harming autistics on a wide scale, I could go on (and on and on).

There will never be any sense of stability until the Islamic Republic in Iran is gone. Ridding the Islamic Republic from Iran is not a simple task, and sometimes it isn't easy to imagine how it will be done, given how vast and powerful it is and how many people benefit from it, but it is the only way. And this isn't even just about Israel; the Islamic Republic's destruction and chaos have led to the deaths of many Arabs, Kurds; it goes on and on and on. There hasn’t been an ethnic group or religious group who hasn’t been terrorized by these monsters who have held our country hostage for 44 years. As an aggressive critic of the current Saudi government, especially the Crown Prince, my comments above are not meant to let others off the hook. But when you examine so many of the problems people in the region face, the Islamic Republic is often at the root of it. No matter how many efforts are made to deal with other conflicts, as long as the Islamic Republic stays in power, its leadership will throw accelerant on every fire in the region.
