The Meat Institute appreciates USDA’s delay of the burdensome Biden-era rules for the poultry industry that would have raised poultry prices for consumers. We urge USDA to scrap a series of Biden’s misguided and costly proposed regulations that interfere with meat & poultry markets. Thanks to @SecRollins and @DepSecVaden for their leadership.

We support @USDA_AMS hitting pause on the Biden-era poultry payment rule. It would effectively ban bonuses for the best chicken farmers. Eliminating this performance-based compensation system would pay all farmers the same, regardless of hard work, investments, housing conditions or bird welfare practices. Senator Schumer’s legislation, the “Family Grocery and Farmer Relief Act,” will force meat companies with product lines from more than one species to divest and limit their production to one species. “Such a foolish proposal would never even be considered in another industry,” said Potts. “Imagine the federal government mandating that Ford only manufacture trucks, while forcing them to sell off all their other vehicle lines to separate small businesses. It is unthinkable in a free market. They don’t even do that in Russia anymore."
