@aSamEvans @HefinR Encouraging more kids to go to private school, will have a bigger impact. Same spend, more per child, smaller classes. Shame common sense isn’t a thing!

In other news, that then means that schools won’t get anything due to all the alleged benefit actually being spent on the costs of educating new pupils and extra taxis! All whilst existing educational infrastructure can’t cope with the current numbers! 🤷‍♂️

@DanNeidle @ProagriLtd It’d be great to see the farmers supporting your suggestions. Unfortunately they’re supporting rich tax avoiders still.

Huge admiration for ⁦@DanNeidle⁩ who was willing to look at the detail of the IHT policy proposal and conclude that it should be amended! New ‘Tractor tax’ blow to Starmer as Labour expert calls for government U-turn | The Independent independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…

@IanStockport @DanNeidle Risk at present is next gen get handed farm over earlier and have to keep it going for older gen, when perhaps they don’t want to farm.

@MeatLinc @DanNeidle The risk is the next gen will keep the farm with no motivation to farm it more then is legally required.

New data on farms and inheritance tax: a third of farm estates over £1.5m aren’t farmers but wealthy people avoiding IHT by sinking money into farmland. The Budget hits farmers too hard and tax avoiders too lightly. It needs to change.

@DanNeidle It’s amazing what could be achieved with the consultation! What’s more worry is they don’t consult, and the masses of others things they cock up as a result!

@MeatLinc Thanks, George. Yes, I've spoken to farmers on this, as well as advisers, and that seems the near-universal view.

@RobertHodgkins1 @ShepherdWales Every business set up is different, costs vary massively as every farm’s financial circumstances are different. New IHT is ‘another’ cost to your business that is unexpected, it’s to simple to just label it as a ‘rent equivalent’

Average farm in England is £2.2million. Basic threshold - Elderly farmer, spouse deceased £1.5 million according to Dan Neidle. £700,000 left, 20% tax = £140k Over 10 years 14k per year Grazing Farm earns average - £36,000 per year Half their annual income going on a tax bill Is that viable? #FamilyFarmTax🚜
Paul Lewis@paullewismoney

@UBSixT You don’t. That is nonsense. On death - which happens once in a lifetime - you pay 20% of value above £1m often £2m and can pay it over 10 years. The irrational fear of it is what is doing the damage.

@RobertHodgkins1 @ShepherdWales Land around us is £16k, that’s bare land. Neighbours yard just sold for 700k. Out 600 plus yard would be £10m. Parents own separate house. Works out at £266/acre. Paid out after corporation tax, so add another 60, is £320/acre.
