@aatukunda @WuyoI38745 People want to earn big when others are losing
English

@MedEdgar1 @WuyoI38745 You have put it right, namesake.
The problem is that they overly bargain and want to determine the buying price and still want complain.

There is actually nothing wrong with what they are doing. The fingers being removed belong to the owner of Matooke and theirs are just 2-3 fingers only.
The math is as follows (using Isingiro district that is Ngarama & Kashumba to be specific). We are going to use a plantation/farm purchase cost of Ugx18,000 as the cost of the smallest bunch. This price can go up to around Ugx45,000 and Ugx 70,000 - 80,000 for big bunches heading to Juba now termed as Juba size to mean too big and expensive.
Purchase Cost - 18,000.
Labour cost to the collection point (stage) - 700.
Labour to load to the truck - 300.
Transport to Kampala - 5000.
Kampala offloaders - 1000 (they are given 2-3 fingers instead of cash money).
At this point, the bunch is valued at Ugx25,000 before profit. But remember the trader has been eating, used transport and has as well paid the brokers who got the Matooke for him. Let’s put the expenses at Ugx1,000 for each bunch.
Now let’s add minimum profit of let’s Ugx3,000.
The bunch is now at Ugx29,000.
Now the trick part is here, when you reach the market or the stalls, buyers want to buy the same bunch at Ugx23,000 - 25,000. That’s a difference of 4000 but remember this trader wants to work and feed and look after his family, so he resorts to extracting fingers worth the remaining money to Survive and keep his capital intact. But also remember this is a perishable item so in some cases some bunches will be sold way too less to the farm purchase price and some are even counted as losses.
So without this background, it looks like they are stealing the fingers but they are not. You the buyers are the ones inviting the practice because you want to pay less and until you understand the dynamics of bringing a bunch to Kampala, nothing makes sense.
And I am very sure those criticizing the process actually, if you brought Matooke, you would take more fingers from the bunch 😂😂😂😂.

This is so wrong 😳🙆♀️
English

@WuyoI38745 @aatukunda If he decides the price, you the buyer will complain thay he is expensive and dont buy yet his good is perishable. That is all caused by the costs of sale incurred. Not forgetting over bargaining customers
English

@aatukunda Don't defend theft please. Cant the seller decid the price?

@nnamirembeninah @Karungisera2 And alot of men have given women money and businesses that they wasted. Have you seen men come on big platforms to discourage other men?
English

@Karungisera2 It’s disappointing having a woman join men to shame a fellow woman because of her marital status. If you reasoned in context she’s right, you can’t deny cases where women have trusted their husbands with millions but the men haven’t put them to right use.
