The brutal murder of three-year-old Kulsoom in Karachi is a harrowing indictment of institutional failure and a collapse of the state’s duty to protect its citizens. This act of depravity demands immediate, uncompromising accountability, the authorities must ensure that those responsible are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. We urgently require systemic legal reform, including fast-track judicial proceedings for crimes against children, to replace current bureaucratic inertia with swift, exemplary justice. Beyond the legal failure, this tragedy exposes a deeper societal crisis: our generations are descending into mental and emotional decay, fueled by the extremes of poverty and corruptive wealth, the erosion of parental and communal guidance, the toxic influence of digital platforms, neglected physical well-being, and an abandonment of foundational moral and religious values. Pakistan can no longer afford the luxury of political indifference. We must move beyond rhetoric to dismantle both the criminal elements and the societal pathogens that allow such violence to fester, ensuring that our children can finally live in safety, dignity, and peace.

The greatest failure of any society is not poverty or political instability, it is the inability to protect its women and children.
Allah commands:
“Protect yourselves and your families…” (Surah At-Tahrim 66:6)
Yet, our daughters are abused, our children are violated, and justice remains painfully slow.
A nation that cannot protect its mothers, sisters, daughters, and children cannot claim to uphold justice, morality, or humanity.
Enough statements. Enough condolences. Enough delays.
Protect the vulnerable. Punish the perpetrators. Deliver justice.

On the International Day of Women in Diplomacy, I extend my appreciation to women diplomats, policymakers, and leaders across the world whose contributions continue to strengthen international cooperation, promote peaceful dialogue, and advance the shared goals of sustainable development.
At a time when the world faces unprecedented geopolitical, humanitarian, and economic challenges, the role of women in diplomacy has become more vital than ever. Through their leadership, wisdom, and commitment to constructive engagement, women are making invaluable contributions to conflict prevention, peacebuilding, multilateral cooperation, and the promotion of human rights.
The inclusion of women in diplomacy is not simply a matter of equality, it is essential for effective governance, durable peace, and sustainable progress. Their perspectives enrich decision making processes, strengthen democratic institutions, and foster solutions that are more inclusive, balanced, and responsive to the needs of societies.
As we mark this important day, the international community must renew its commitment to ensuring greater representation of women at all levels of diplomatic engagement and global leadership. Empowering women to participate fully in shaping international policy is fundamental to building a more peaceful, stable, and equitable world.
Women diplomats are not only representing their nations with distinction, they are serving as powerful advocates for dialogue over division, cooperation over conflict, and progress over uncertainty. Their contributions remain indispensable to the pursuit of global peace, security, and development.
