@davidsmi @WestJet They are saying absolutely not. It’s “unplanned.” Put us on a flight to Kelowna tomorrow morning, which, because I’m a gambler I’m going to say it ain’t happening. I gotta scrub the Canadian contract of carriage, but @WestJet is using “unplanned language” to cover their asses

I’ve had some toxic jobs. Lesson learned: When things go bad, good people leave, eventually followed by people who thought they could change things but got buried because too many good people left. Those left are bad people or hostages. The good people are your canary.

Thank you @UAlberta for doing the right thing. It’s a good start. I hope that next you will address the U of A professors who signed the letter and otherwise disseminate hate speech. It is egregious.
University of Alberta@UAlberta

Statement on the University of Alberta Sexual Assault Centre The recent improper and unauthorized use of the name of the University of Alberta’s Sexual Assault Centre in endorsing an open letter has raised understandable concerns from members of our community and the public. Effective immediately, the director of the centre is no longer employed by the university. The university has appointed a new interim director of the Sexual Assault Centre. I want to be clear that the former employee’s personal views and opinions do not in any way represent those of the University of Alberta. The University of Alberta stands firmly and unequivocally against discrimination and hatred on the basis of religion, race, ethnicity, national origin, and other protected categories. We recognize the historical and ongoing harms of antisemitism and commit to doing all we can as a university to advance a world free of prejudice and discrimination. The services provided by the university, particularly those supporting the well-being and health of community members, must be open and welcoming to all individuals in our diverse community. The new leadership at the Sexual Assault Centre is committed to swiftly implementing the changes required to ensure this university commitment is upheld. I understand that this event has been profoundly hurtful and may have compromised the trust of individuals in our community. I also recognize the significant potential negative impact given the critical nature of the centre’s work. On behalf of the university, I apologize for the hurt and distress this issue has caused members of our community and beyond. As a university, we commit to continued action to restore your trust. Looks like Premier Smith’s arrival isn’t met with a standing ovation at #COP8… spotted in ECO today, the daily brief from international civil society at UN climate conference! 👀

Utterly horrific: @hrw has verified the reports about the decomposed babies in the Gaza hospital after staff were forced to flee. hrw.org/news/2023/12/0…

@michaeloshry Your comments about not believing the death of thousands of women & children, and truly believing the actions of Netanyahu’s gov. & the IDF are justified self defence, shows me the blackness of your heart and mind.

Educational Fact #8: Jordan and Israel signed a peace treaty in 1994. One year after the Palestinian Liberation Org (PLO) walked away from a Palestinian state being offered, within the Oslo Accords. Jordan made peace anyway. Jordan now has about 2M Palestinians living there.
