I know there are people (many people) upset and frustrated tonight. Let me speak some truth with love. If Harris won, I would have understood why. Trump is polarizing. If you thought it was “obvious” to vote for Harris and that only “MAGA people” would vote for Trump or Harris was the only choice because of “love” and “peace” and “unity” - it’s time to wake up. Ask why so many millions of Americans voted for a guy that they don’t even like that much. Look at your political party. What isn’t resonating with the average American? What about the Democratic Party is so out there that the average American would choose Trump? I’ll give you my opinion: The answer isn’t “catch up” or “get with the times” or “the racists will die out”. For what it’s worth: People care about their own life situation. Many people felt that their life was better under Trump. Groceries were cheaper. They didn’t want foreign wars. The economy was good. Way more people are pro life than you realize and most, even if they support abortion, aren’t voting on that single issue. Running a campaign on abortion isn’t smart. Trump and Vance barely talked about it because it’s already back with the states. Most pro lifers aren’t thrilled with Trump/Vances current position on abortion. There weren’t wars when Trump was President and it feels like WW3 is closer now than it was 4 years ago. People want freedom and acceptance, but hammering ideology rather than discussing policy is alienating. Here is the path forward: We need to get back to civil conversation. Focus on the common good and be the greatest nation ever. Keep in mind who benefits from us being divided - its a group of people in Washington who will all be out for drinks together next week even though they are “enemies.” Let’s not let them. Let’s find ways to disagree and move forward. We have that power.
