The newly released Guidelines for Implementation of the Battery Pack Aadhaar System includes several ideas long argued for in our research- lifecycle traceability, carbon footprint, circularity, material composition, and phased, use-case driven deployment, especially focused on critical minerals' governance. While these inclusions signal an important step in strengthening India’s battery governance architecture, the story doesn’t end there.
