Yes, I verified my ID on X to get the blue check and Premium perks. It helps boost visibility for our NO DIGITAL ID campaign here in the UK. Some people are calling it hypocrisy. Let’s be crystal clear: it is NOT. X’s ID verification is VOLUNTARY. It is opt-in only for Premium users who choose to use it. The process is handled by a PRIVATE THIRD-PARTY PROCESSOR, not the government. The data is typically retained only briefly — often up to 30 days in many cases — and the whole thing is LIMITED TO THIS PLATFORM. It exists for practical reasons: building trust, prioritising support, and helping fight impersonation. There is NO central state database, NO mandatory linking of your life across services, and NO forced compliance. What we actively OPPOSE is GOVERNMENT-CONTROLLED DIGITAL ID — the kind the UK government is now consulting on as of March 2026. That means a NATIONAL SYSTEM pushed by the state, one that could tie your identity to public services, right-to-work checks, surveillance across multiple sectors, and everyday interactions — often with little meaningful opt-out in practice. That represents CENTRALISED CONTROL, ETERNAL TRACKING, EROSION OF PRIVACY, and a serious tool for overreach. These are not the same thing at all. Apples and oranges. I made a deliberate choice to use a private platform’s OPTIONAL TOOL so I can amplify the message against the real threat: STATE-MANDATED DIGITAL IDs that risk locking every citizen into a single government-managed identity ecosystem. Verifying here simply helps me spread the word louder. It is STRATEGY, not surrender. If you care about privacy and individual freedom, join the fight against COMPULSORY STATE DIGITAL ID. Don’t waste energy nitpicking someone who is using the tools available to resist it. The difference really does matter.

Oppo has ads in its file manager. The default built-in system file manager 🤦🏾♂️
