Australian Government’s Position on “What is a Woman?” and Gender Identity Discrimination
The Australian federal government has no statutory definition of “woman” (or “man”, “male”, or “female”) in the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (the main anti-discrimination law).
Even though it's called the Sex Discrimination Act, sex is NOT a protected attribute!
Here’s the simple truth:
From 1984 until 2013 the Act did have a clear, biological definition:
“woman means a member of the female sex irrespective of age.”
In 2013 the Gillard Labor government repealed those definitions and added “gender identity” as a new protected attribute (alongside sexual orientation and intersex status).
The explicit reason? To ensure the law protected transgender people and was “not interpreted so narrowly as to exclude, for example, a transgender woman.”
Today (2026) the Act still contains zero definitions of woman, man, or sex. Courts rely on ordinary meaning and the separate “gender identity” protection.
Gender identity is defined in the Act as:
“the gender-related identity, appearance or mannerisms or other gender-related characteristics of a person (whether by way of medical intervention or not), with or without regard to the person’s designated sex at birth.”
Key point on anti-discrimination
It is unlawful to discriminate against someone on the basis of sex or on the basis of gender identity. These are two separate grounds. In practice, the 2013 changes mean a person’s self-identified gender identity is protected even in single-sex spaces, services, or sports, as confirmed again by the Full Federal Court just two days ago (15 May 2026) in the Giggle v Tickle appeal.
The law simply removed the old biological wording and layered gender identity on top.
In Australia, Gender identity trumps sex.
That is the current position of Australian federal law. No definition of “woman.” Separate, strong protections for gender identity.
They removed women and their rights from society with their legislation.

Today’s ruling on Tickle v Giggle shows what I’ve known for some time: the Sex Discrimination Act no longer protects the rights of women and girls to their own spaces, services and sports.
My Save Women’s Sports Bill 2022 went some of the way to fix this, but the decision today makes clear that more must be done to ensure women’s and girls’ fairness, dignity, and safety are guaranteed at law.

99% of people really do not understand abundance as Elon describes it.

This is just bizarre. I interviewed another self-taught Christian commentator who claimed that Esther is not canonical. Both @TuckerCarlson and this other guy have a very ill-informed understanding of what the Jewish canon is. Esther tells the story of a real historical king and his wife and the salvation from destruction of the Jewish people. We celebrate the salvation it describes, every year at Purim.
