With an evidence-based approach, we can teach students to read regardless of their age, but delaying that instruction does have consequences. Excited for the day when we all agree, the best time for code-based instruction is at the get-go of reading.

Excellent to hear Natalie Wexler's keynote on this at ResearchED Canada. First we get all our kiddos reading fluently, through mastery of word reading skills, then we focus on their ability to do deep dives into new content and vocab. Both are essential. This is so exciting!
