A violent sex offender who launched a “sickening” attack on a young man on a train has been jailed following a British Transport Police (BTP) investigation. Zakaria Mohammed, aged 32, of The Coppice, West Drayton, pleaded guilty to Actual Bodily Harm, Sexual Assault, False Imprisonment and breaching the conditions of a previous Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). He was jailed for one year and eight months at Reading Crown Court on 19 May and placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years. He was also made the subject of a 10-year SHPO and must pay a victim surcharge of £187. The court heard how, shortly before 8.30am on Saturday 24 March, Mohammed sat directly opposite the 21-year-old victim at a table in an otherwise empty carriage. The pair made small talk until Mohammed, who had clearly been drinking and was carrying a half empty bottle of wine, sexually assaulted the man. He eventually moved to sit next to the victim, who attempted to the leave his seat when the train reached Reading station. When he asked Mohamed to move so he could leave he refused, leaving the victim with no other option than to crawl under the table to escape. However, as he was doing so, Mohammed repeatedly hit him over the head with his wine bottle. On leaving the train the victim reported what had happened and realised he was bleeding heavily from cuts to his head. Mohammed was arrested by BTP officers as he approached the barriers to leave the station and was found to be in breach of a previous SHPO forbidding him from travelling on public transport without paying for a ticket. BTP Detective Constable Lauren Pace said: “This was a truly sickening assault on a young man who was understandably terrified. “Mohammed is a dangerous individual who saw nothing wrong with forcing himself upon the victim. “Quite rightly he has been jailed as a result of our investigation and issued with a SHPO which will hopefully prevent him from attacking anyone else. “We urge anyone who experiences or witnesses sexual offending on the railway to report it to us by texting 61016.”

Aziz was caught by a combination of paedophile hunter groups, Cobra UK and Caught and Confronted. Peter Barr, prosecuting, explained that the father-of-one began contacting what he thought was a 14-year-old girl named Ruby on August 26, after finding her online. However, it was revealed he was actually talking to a 41-year-old female member of Cobra UK. Mr Barr said the very first message Aziz sent to her was a lewd request for sex. Ruby responded: “I don’t know what you mean, I am only 14.” Aziz then replied by saying it meant to “hang out and make love”. Several sexual messages followed over a four-week period on WhatsApp in which Aziz asked Ruby questions and made suggestive remarks. Aziz asked Ruby to send him photos of her in her bra and when she said she couldn’t because her phone was broken, he offered to pay for repairs. Aziz also offered to pay for her to get credit on her phone. On August 26, Aziz arranged to meet Ruby, who said she was from London, at Burnley Bus Station. He said he would take her to Rochdale because “it had nice views.” However, he was met by members of Caught and Confronted, who called the police. Police confiscated Aziz’s two mobile phones. On one of them, 18 indecent images of pre-teens were discovered. When asked about the pictures, he claimed that another person had sent them and he thought he had deleted them. The court heard the images had been saved in the same folder as family photos. Aziz pleaded guilty to attempting to arrange or facilitate the commission of a child sex offence and possessing indecent images of children. Judge Heather Lloyd stated her concern by probation’s assessment that he posed a high risk of harm to children and vulnerable females. She told Aziz that it was clear he thought Ruby was an “easy target for his sexual gratification.” She added: “It is said by the author of the pre-sentence report that your actions were planned and deliberate, born out of your distorted attitude towards British girls.” Aziz was jailed for 18 months. TRIO JAILED FOR A TOTAL OF 45 YEARS FOR THE SEXUAL ABUSE OF THREE CHILDREN A trio of abusers have been jailed for a total of 45 years for a horrific campaign of sexual abuse against children. Matthew David Thatcher, 26, and his half-sister Emily Thomson, 18, targeted three children in their sustained catalogue of abuse. The three defendants admitted to 36 counts relating to the sexual abuse of the three children aged under 16. Cardiff Crown Court heard on Thursday that Thatcher and Thomson took photographs of themselves sexually assaulting the children and sent graphic messages about their abuse and discussed their planned abuse. Recorder of Cardiff Eleri Rees said: “The images and messages showed a careless disregard for the welfare of the children.” Another woman, Mandy Wright, 28, of Ely, Cardiff, was jailed for her part in the crime, including possession of images of child sex abuse. The court heard that South Wales Police officers discovered hundreds of images of sexual abuse of children taken during the trio’s abuse, including dozens marked in the most extreme category – category A. Speaking of Thatcher, of Ely, Cardiff, Recorder Rees added: “He descended into the darkest of places. “He discovered that he was capable of doing the most dreadful things. “He was caught up in something that he found very difficult to get out of. “It was a dreadful thing that was taking place.” Recorder Rees sentenced Thatcher to 26 years, Thomson to 12 years, and Wright to seven years. The harrowing abuse at one point caused the children to cry “like they could not breathe”. A medical examination of one of the young victims showed signs of “chronic sexual abuse”, the court heard. The trio’s sustained abuse came to light after Thatcher was caught trying to meet what he thought was a 14-year-old he had spoken to over Facebook. Prosecutor Suzanne Thomas told the court that the messages became “sexual” and they arranged to meet up. After Thatcher arrived at the location the woman reported the matter to police. Recorder Rees sentenced Thatcher to 26 years, Thomson to 12 years, and Wright to seven years. Thatcher was charged with 15 offences, including rape and sexual assault of a child, and Thomson was charged with 16 counts including sexual assault and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. Wright was charged with five offences. The court also imposed sexual harm prevention orders on the trio.
