We are proud to announce the innovators selected for the 2026 cohort of the Fund for African Private Sector Assistance program. FAPA, a facility of African Development Bank Group, is supporting this Pan-African cohort drawn from 5 cohorts of the Home Grown Solutions initiative.

Of course, I don’t advocate for quick poorly conducted research but rather prescribed procedures for such studies to be valid. That said, how can multiple comparison procedures (MCPs) such Bonferonni’s be applied in “factors associated with” studies?

The paper by David Lewer titled “Factors associated with: problems of using exploratory multivariable regression to identify causal risk factors” [Link: bmjmedicine.bmj.com/content/bmjmed…] articulates perfectly the critical issues researchers must consider.

November was an amazing month at MSCAN. We held yet another successful MSCAN device deployment and Point of Care Ultrasound training. In collaboration with @IDIMakerere, we trained 6 midwives in Point of Care Ultrasound, deployed 6 MSCAN machines in Palabek refugee settlement.

Training of midwives to do obstetric scans in Palabek refugee settlement, Lamwo. This will increase access to imaging services and improve quality of obstetric care for refugees and host community. Thanks to the collaboration between @RESCUEorg @IDIMakerere @LAMWO @mSCAN_Ug

Just installed Starlink and quite impressed with initial speeds & ease of setup. Most excited about its potential to bring internet access to remote & rural areas that lack infrastructure. @elonmusk I’d be glad to commit $$ to donate Starlink to schools & hospitals in Uganda.
