When we talk about double standards in Ireland when it comes to Israel, this is what we mean: Since October 8, Hezbollah has been indiscriminately targeting Israeli communities, a fact which was barely reported in Irish media. For months we have been calling it out, trying to avoid escalation & for months we asked the international community to pressure Hezbollah to stop. For months we have been alerting to the fact that these attacks are also a threat to Lebanese and UNIFIL troops. Over the weekend Israel took preemptive action & destroyed many missile launch pads directed at its civilian communities, yet reports & comments in Irish media frame the action as “Israeli aggression”. Some seem to be more worried about Hezbollah terrorists than the Israelis who are under daily fire.
