The delegation said it had traveled at the invitation of local organizations to investigate allegations of police repression and human rights abuses amid Bolivia’s deepening political crisis.
The expulsions come as anti-government protests and roughly 90 road blockades have crippled the country for nearly two months, triggering shortages of food, fuel, and medicine. President Rodrigo Paz’s government, which recently expanded emergency powers allowing the suspension of constitutional rights and wider military deployment, accuses opponents of “narco-terrorism” and sabotage, while rights groups warn of an escalating crackdown and shrinking space for independent scrutiny.

There is a narrative that, prior to Tufan al-Aqsa, Ismail Haniyeh inquired if Ali Khameini would lend Iranian support to an October 7-like operation, and that Khameini deferred. Commentators including Azzam Tamimi have cited this as evidence that the operation did not have the Axis of Resistance’s report. I have seen commentators revivifying this narrative today, averring that this was demonstrative of Hamas’ not heeding the AoR’s strategic advice.
This claim, however, is anchored in a Reuters report, which claimed exclusive knowledge of such a purported meeting. However, as underscored in the most comprehensive scholarly work on Hamas-Iran relations, Fatima al-Samadi’s "Iran wa-Hamas: min Marj al-Zuhur ila Tufan al-Aqsa," (Doha: Al Jazeera Centre for Studies, 2024), Hamas members have vociferously denied such a meeting transpired. At the time, Hamas published a Telegram message denouncing Reuters’ claim, calling it “unfounded news.” In Nov. 2023, Osama Hamdan also called Reuters’ claim “a cheap lie.”
(This is further substantiated by more recently leaked letters—whose authenticity, admittedly, remains dubious as Hamas has neither confirmed nor denied their legitimacy and their source is the occupation’s own intelligence services—putatively authored by Qassam’s leadership and supposedly circulated to Hizbu’llah and other actors within the Axis of Resistance on the eve of Tufan stating that the Palestinian Joint Operations Room did not expect Iran or Syrian to open support fronts.)

Hezbollah issued another statement saying that the invading occupation army force that they thwarted on the outskirts of Kfar Tebnit received reinforcements and has grown to the size of at least 5 Merkavas and 4 Namers.
Hezbollah struck the invading force with rockets and artillery and the battle is ongoing.

Jeremy Scahill said Iranian officials argue Gaza has been left largely outside the current talks because it would require an entirely separate diplomatic track. He said he found that explanation “unsatisfying,” but that Tehran believes it lacks the leverage to fold Gaza, the West Bank, settlements, the siege, and forced displacement into the same agreement.
Scahill also highlighted how the talks expose the idea that Iran controls Hamas as a myth, saying Tehran’s relationship with Hamas is very different from its alliance with Hezbollah.
