Most companies say learning matters. But the best organizations build cultures where learning never stops. In my conversation with Deb Laurel on The Learning Advantage, we explored how leaders create environments where people grow—even under pressure. youtube.com/watch?v=c5CV4e…

On Valentine’s Day 36 years ago, at the request of Carl Sagan, NASA turned Voyager 1's camera back toward home for one last look. From 3.7 billion miles away, it captured this: a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Here is how Carl Sagan beautifully described it: “Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it, everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor, and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every 'superstar,' every 'supreme leader,' every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there — on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand. It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.”

@SassiestMinx Holding you and your father close to my heart. I went through a similar experience last year with my mother (97), and you are wise to focus on self care and his care during this time. ❤️

I have been sporadically online recently as Dad is not doing well. His hospice team says he has months, maybe 2-3. He is 97-1/2 with heart & kidney failure and his body is just worn out. His dementia is progressing quickly. He is mostly lucid, but has begun hallucinating and unable to shift out of REM sleep to awake at times. He's been in hospital for the last few days due to passing out and falling flat on his face. Stitches, concussion. Scary. A hospital bed was delivered this week as he cannot really do steps any longer & cannot be alone. My brother's widow is going to come 2x a week to relieve me so I can get out of the house. He does sleep a lot so I will be posting but he is my focus now. I pick him up from the hospital today around 1pm. Not gonna lie - these last 3 days I have slept, and slept and slept. I was exhausted. Still am, but in a different way. I am more resolved than ever that his time here will be under his terms - as long as he can dictate those. If he cannot, I know what he wants & needs. My heart is aching. He did tell me hours before his fall that he is ready to go. I will still never forget the moment he "got it" and came out of his "republican" fog for good. "Annie," he said, "I spent my whole life mad at the wrong people. I am so sorry." People can and do change and it's never too late.

𝘽𝙚 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙖𝙩 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠 by @claudesilver is a thoughtful reminder that authenticity, calm, & kindness are real leadership strengths, not soft skills. An important read for anyone who cares about how they show up and the culture they help shape. tinyurl.com/mtd74rea

You cannot argue with MAGA. They demand evidence, then call your sources biased. You provide primary sources, they claim they're doctored. You show them video, they say it's out of context. You give them context, they say you're cherry-picking. This isn't debate. This is a systematic refusal to allow reality to intrude on mythology. You're not arguing facts. You're arguing whether facts exist.

Some moments demand response. What happened to Alex Pretti has shaken me to my core. I hope you’ll read My LinkedIn article, "When Silence Is No Longer an Option." It's not political. I invite you to reflect on how to lead when something is deeply wrong. tinyurl.com/32yb499m

Tim Walz - once again - is spot-on in his tone, content, and messaging. He's direct, articulate, informational, empathic - you can feel his genuineness and sincerity. He'd have been an excellent Vice President.
