Ironically, Rome/EO & the happy-clappy megachurch are two sides of the same coin. One uses incense, icons, vestments, and repetitive chant. The other uses lights, loud music, and polished production. Strip it all down, and they both run on the same juice: aesthetics and atmosphere used to generate a false sense of encounter with God, and galling eisegesis. One calls it mystery, the other a “move of the Spirit.” Either way, people are carried along by something carnal & external. The one side kisses wooden pictures and bows down to statues; the other sways to technicolor lights & music. But both deploy pragmatism & both bank on the laity not knowing their Bibles when it comes to proper worship. Both appeal to the flesh. Both are centers of pomp, glitter, & idolatry. Two sides of the same coin.

@RealBenMichael @TexasPreacher They’re into it because once you study Church history, you basically have to decide if the RCC or EO are the Church founded by Christ. Protestantism becomes absurd once you are well versed in Church history. “To be deep in history is to cease to be a Protestant”.

I've noticed young men are into RCC/EO because it's trendy, not bc it's true. They like the colors, buzz, & pomp of the thing. It's cooler than to settle for the simplicity of Christ & worshipping Him in Spirit & truth. It's vainglory that leads them, not the Spirit of God.

I really want to be more involved in Christian political advocacy in future years but I am concerned that so many of the ministers high up in political connection seem corrupt. I’m not sure of how much I can do working alongside people like that. I mean, people like the utterly corrupt Paula White. If you can stomach her as your spiritual friend then I don’t know how to work with that. Perhaps I am better off on the outside if major Christian-named political influencers and groups can’t bring themselves to mark and avoid Paula White. I still have time to work through this but think it’s good to openly acknowledge the elephants in the room. I say “elephants” because Paula White is merely a stand-in for so many names.
