@Merriiman @FaceTheNation @CBSNews Except you typically withhold based on what you expect to pay or what the withholding tables indicate based on the current tax laws. These were not updated as the Big Beautiful Bill was passed I believe in the third quarter of 2025. So the refund is indicative of lower taxes.

@6speedgomango @crampell Someone who looks obviously over 21 shouldn’t have to show ID Businesses have been coerced to require ID from everyone fearing that law enforcement deploys underage “agents” who look over 21 to entrap them. People are so use to it they don’t recognize another restriction on them

@BonBic36554 @WallStreetApes It doesn’t align w/my experience growing up in the 50’s. My father refurbished our 100 yr old house. He made much of the furniture we had. He was up early tending an acre garden before work. Mother did work on the side to supplement family income. One used car. Not that easy.

@WallStreetApes Sorry there are holes in this story. Growing up no one in my neighborhood had 2 cars. We didn’t have 2 until 1986 and then they were both old used cars. Teachers unions have made it possible to retire at 50. I know a few. Full salary and only $100. a month for health insurance.

This is pretty simple. "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." If the phrase "and subject to the jurisdiction thereof", meant anyone present in the US, why did they add it? If that's what it means then it's redundant because they already said "All persons". They added the phrase importantly starting with the word "and". So you don't get citizenship just by being here. You also have to be subject to the full jurisdiction of the US.
