Have you genuinely so little understanding of the profound military difficulty of U.S. forces seizing Kharg? We can’t sail up the 800+ mile stretch thru Gulf of Oman, past the strait, and up the Persian Gulf to even *get* to Kharg w Marine’s USS Boxer & Tripoli. Helicopter or Osprey then are the only other viable options, and those airframes are vulnerable to every defensive weapon Iran would have. If they were successful in landing and defeating the remaining garrison, they would come under withering missile, drone, and even artillery fire indefinitely. Casualties would mount by the day. You would then have to sustain the troops, indefinitely, with food, water, and ammo, all by vulnerable air assets. How would medivac for wounded troops be carried out? Also by vulnerable air. And how, exactly, would the seizure of Kharg force Iran to give up their number 1 ace, control of the Strait? It wouldn’t. Thus, this should b a stillborn bad idea.
