Some other scams we have all become ok with:
1. Fed (ungoverned, unelected body) can print however many dollars it wants and sell them at value to other countries.
2. Credit scores: you are penalized for not living in debt, even when you have money
3. Credit card points programs: uses hidden fees from poor to fund perks for rich
3. Bottled water
4. College degrees as a universal requirement
5. Free trials that auto renew to paid plans
6. Using safety as an excuse for surveillance
7. False scarcity of housing/land - there is enough housing for everyone, homelessness shouldn't exist in a free market.
8. The "free market". In practice, markets have not been "free" for centuries. Regulations are in large part lobbied for by corporate interests to kill open competition.
9. Recycling. Unfortunately, recycling was made up by plastic manufacturers to make you feel better about buying plastic. Very little recycling *actually* exists.
10. Carbon offsets - a lot of these are fake, as are "carbon neutral" companies that are offsetting instead of reducing emissions.
